    Obligatory Avenger's Thread

Just got out of a screening at work, and it's pretty damn good.

It manages a lot of characters very well,
and delivers tons of action, mayhem and humor.

Downey Jr. lights up whenever he's on screen,
but the biggest laugh comes courtesy of the Green Guy.

Easily one of the best comic films made.

I'm trying to stay away from everything on this movie as much as possible until I actually see it. Every time I hear a review about it, the first thing that gets mentioned is how awesome the special effects are and how great it looks in 3d. Haven't we come to the point in cinema where the money spent on effects in big budget movies are always awesome? I kind of expect awesome special effects out of every movie nowadays. Also, when was the last time you were just blown away by special effects? (Don't say Avatar!)As for 3d, I have zero interest in seeing this or any movie in 3d. What I'm hoping for is a great story, good acting, witty dialogue, and battle scenes that fit the film (unlike say a Transformers where so much was happening all at once you couldn't follow what was going on.) I'm pretty psyched for this movie and it looks like Saturday Evening will be when I get to see it. What's even better is I'll be going with my 6 year old and he's already taken his Iron Man shirt out to wear to the movie and placed it on his dresser as of Monday.
Till then I won't be looking at this thread cause I don't want to see any spoilers but here's hoping it's as good as it has been built up to be......

saw this movie last night and was blown away!! AWESOME!! The Avengers have done to superhero movies, for me at least, what Star Wars did for sci-fi back in the day, it's that dang good! I can't say enough about it, see it for yourself.

It could have used another hour.

I am very interested to see everyone's reaction to the Bonus scene....

Saw it today: great movie. I'd probably go A-. Good acting, writing, effects, etc.; no major criticisms. Also, I saw it on the cheap, since I caught a matinee in central Ohio at an indy theater. $4.50 for the ticket, plus $5 for small popcorn, small drink & large Twizzlers . And, I took 2 hours off of work to see it, so I felt like I was getting away with something.

I love it. This is what the Fantastic Four films should have been. Tho it's an action film the plot doesn't ever seem to slow down that much even when there are scene of the characters just talking. It's like every moment is important. I couldn't even find a lull to go to the bathroom.

This is like X2 or X-Men: First Class with much more action/much more dire consequences. It's like the way Bryan Spinger described juggling many mutants; it's like a chess game with all the pieces in play. This film is outstanding.

First movie to do 200 million in the first weekend. Beat Harry Potter by almost 40 million. It's cleared 641 million already worldwide. Disney must be flipping out. There may be an Avengers 12 if the money stays this good.
    GFY!!!
