Love the free book day events.
Gonna be a little weird this year tho - my kids are visiting with relatives.
Anybody know a good comic shop in Springfield, MO I can point them towards??

Free comic book day is simply amazing! I have no idea why I only heard about it 2 years ago when it’s been going on for 10 years!

The associated movie this year is The Avengers (FCBD was first held on May 4th, 2002, something I found funny). Last year it was Thor, and we got The Mighty Thor, detailing his life in the comic-book world (which just made the movie Thor even better because I got all the references). I wonder if we'll get a book like that for The Avengers, detailing their formation, etc. That would be cool.

I've loved FCBD for years! Always a highlight of the calendar.
Great opportunity to sample some books you might not otherwise buy, and also to get some cool exclusive stories featuring your favourite characters.

I always get my books from my local independent comic book store. They have no limitations on the number of books you can take.

But my local branch of FP simply doesn't do FCBD. They say it's too much hassle. Spoilsports!

free comic day was only fun when there were comic shops around.Stupid bad economy ruined it.Closest one is over 1 1/2 hours away.

There is a search box to find participating stores if you have your relatives' zip code.

I have to make a special trip, and outside of Superman and Atomic Robo nothing really gets my attention. No Mignola freebie this year.

I want that Martian comic! And there's a Burt Ward comic this year to go with last year's Adam West.

Just got back from my local comic store... there was lots of cool FCBD stuff this year.
Highlights for me were Avengers, Spidey Season One and the New 52 issue. Green Lantern/Young Justice and the Mouse Guard hardcover are also cool.
Always nice to get a free copy of 2000 AD, too.

I guess that I'll be hitting the local comic shops around here to see what the offerings are for FCBD. We have THE GREAT ESCAPE, THE ZONE, COMIC BOOK WORLD and EMPIRE COMICS to name a few...
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.
