Yes, i am not the only fan who had to stand by the controls and have his picture taken.
Who was that lady and who was she dressed as?

You mean this lady? These are from the 2010 Boston Comic-Con. I don' know who she is or why she dressed like this. But I was thankful!

Makes me wish I were that thin again.

I love this variation on the diamond logo. The Tardis extruding up out of it is a great idea.

    I am with you Mike,
it was special to be a who fan. Not everyone got it and here in the states is was a niche show. The only merchandise we had was Books, Dr Who weekly/monthly, and tardis key's. I loved going to the creation conventions Meeting Tom, Jon Pertwee (who always showed up in costume). The stars seemed to get how special we thought they were Autographs were free and they gave you time to talk and feel special. I never felt that at a Star trek convention back then.

I remember those days fondly still.

I know exactly what you mean. It was somehow more...intimate? For want of a better word...you had to seek out the show on PBS, no reruns, any books or merchandise found was a SCORE!...you watched because you were totally into it, no casual fans. Plus Peter Davison was & is MY Doctor, I totally enjoyed his run. Even Adric!

PBS had Dr. Who on at 5:30 M-F around here and I wouldn't miss one.

Went to a Dr. Who convention in 1984 I believe and got to meet Tom Baker.

Thoughout the 80's my local PBS played DW every Saturday Night at 9:00PM

They played This Old House at 8:30 so I always associate the This Old House themesong connected to Doctor Who

Even today when I watch and hear T.O.H. I think of Doctor Who

Hmm, a very US-centric thread for a BBC production.

For me, Who peaked mid-1976. Baker was in his stride. I was nine.

    Yup. I'm definitely a 1976 guy.

70s DW with Tom Baker will always be my favourite era.

The series started going downhill fast towards the end of Peter Davison's tenure, then hit an absolute rock bottom nadir with Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy. (In my opinion, of course).

Recently picked up a bunch of those DW DVD collection magazines from a bargain store and rewatched some mid 1980s stories for the first time since their original broadcast... They were pretty much as I remember them.

If only I'd known back then that the worst DW was yet to come. I wouldn't have believed it.
