And couldn't they find a cooler font? Even a free one would have been better than that. No pizzazz at all.

This is a Good Movie ....
Man, did they All get Screwed over by the Critics.
I had a Hard time believing that the Mouse would offer such a "Bomb".
The Critics and Marketing Directors in reguards to this Film should be Fined.

I bought it Thursday and have watched it a couple of times. It's a very good movie. It's hard to believe that it tanked so badly in theaters. Word of mouth should have given it a bit of a push. Perhaps it was a victim of the times as much as a horrible marketing campaign. To much emphasis on instant success. Things aren't given enough time to get traction. Just a quick aside. My daughter's college marketing class used John Carter as an example of how poor marketing can sink a quality project. Hopefully Disney will make enough on the dvd/blueray release that the thought of a sequel is revisited. Even if they're direct to dvd movies.

I do think that the lead is miscast. He would have made a very good Carthoris. He just doesn't have enough weight to his personality to be a believable John Carter.

Have to agree on the horrible dvd/blueray packaging. Bad photoshop indeed! There's such a rich history of John Carter imagery. Disney couldn't use the male & female lead to do a homage to some of that classic imagery?

Wow, that was a fine movie. MUCH better than I anticipated. I figured it would be good, based on good word of mouth (mostly here) and despite the HORRIBLE marketing campaign. As someone who works in marketing, I cannot fathom how incredibly angry the people who worked so hard on this movie must be with the marketing dept. at Disney. It's criminal.

Oh, and Lynn Collins would make a GREAT Wonder Woman. Although Hollywood would probably deem her too old to start a franchise like that.

I'm so happy people are watching this film and liking it! I bought my copy and am really enjoying the bonus materials too. It would've been helpful if even one of these bonus features were aired on TV before the film was released.

Here are some Redbox free codes that I've found online. I've personally used the top three on every account my family has with no problem. Not sure if they have an expiration date.
Some I can't try because I don't have the vendors near me. LMK which work for you if you try them. Most are one use only from what I've found. Enjoy.

DVDONME – Free rental, per one per credit card or debit card.

    BREAKROOM – Free movie rental.

DVDATWAG - Free rental. Only work at Redbox locations at Walgreens.

DVDKROG or DVDATKROGER – One free movie rental at Kroger location only.

REDBOX – Get a free rental for new customer only.

THANKS2U - One-time per card, one day’s free rental, many cards use!

DVDONUS – One free movie rental.BREAKDOWN – Free rental at Walgreens only.

DVDATMAC – Free rental at McDonalds only.

DVDATSONI or DRIVEIN – Free Rental at Redbox locations inside Sonic.

DVDATWAL – Get a free rental at Walmart or Walgreens.

DVDATWEG - Free rental at Wegman’s.

k67r4vx - Not sure on this one yet to try it.

On the REDBOX site they're doing a trivia promotion for discount codes. You can get up to 50 cents off for a certain number of days. They ask some movie trivia questions and you get 10 cents per correct answer.
Supposedly if you answer wrong, hit F5 and refresh the page, it starts over asking the same questions, so eventually you should get them all right every time.
