Alumilite mold putty- think I found Zubber

A long time ago Zubber was a discussion on these boards because it was a rubber like substance and was a kids toy that could be pressed into molds to make rubber insects and such.

Here is that discussion and you can see my results with further info using this material on page 2 of that post:

Today I finally had a chance to go to a Hobby Lobby (and I must say the place is amazing!!). I found something there called Alumilite Mold putty and that can be seen below:

Now Zubber has technically bombed and disappeared off the store shelves. The problem with that, is it was an amazing on the fly and super quick flexible mold maker

So I was reading the box of Alumilite mold putty and it did seem to be a zubber like substance. I plunked down the rather pricy $30.00 and tried it out

This stuff is 99% exactly what zubber was. The only real difference is this was way less greasy and it did stick to a paper plate (zubber did not), but everything else is the same (same mix time, same cure time, etc). The instructions mentioned on how to do a 2 part mold and did go on to say that if you do this you need to coat the dry mold with Vaseline otherwise the material will stick to the already dry half. Zubber was the opposite of this and applying new zubber to old zubber would not stick

I just wanted to bring it out there for those that may have never heard of Alumilite's Mold putty previously and liked using zubber as a mold maker or even pressing it into your new/old Creepy Crawler molds to make new rubber whatevers that this substitute will work fine
