what's a good camcorder these days?

hey all, need some advice on purchasing a camcorder. my old one does not work anymore....it's 13 yrs old. i want something that makes it easy to convert film to DVD. anyone know anything about them?

This is actually pretty tricky IMO. While you can get some really good HD quality cameras, the format may be proprietary and only work with included software which may limit your options when it comes to editing. For a high end consumer grade I went the safe way and purchased an older but high quality camera from Hector.
