Young Justice line may have been cancelled

From a Robin repaint preview over at AFI:

Last week we were taking a look at the newest additions to the 4″ Young Justice Line from Mattel. This week it appears that Mattel has made the decision to cancel the ‘Young Justice’ figures, both the 4″ and 6″ line according to some posts by a Mattel employee on the MattyCollector message boards this past Friday. I would imagine we will still get this assortment as they have already been tooled and manufactured. To round out this coverage we’re going to finish up this wave with the Robin figure.

This doesn't surprise me. This line was horribly mishandled and insanely overpriced. The sculpting is nice, but the articulation is a throwback with a buck body that is pretty limited in play value. Mattel included the HOJ build a-backdrop piece, which was cool, but not worth jacking the price up to at least $3 more than it should have been. Bandai still manages to sell their Ben 10 figures that are roughly the same size, with a little more articulation for around $7.

The 6" figures are some odd Frankenstein between DCUC and the look of the show. Some of it works fine, but other things don't, like Robin's huge adult hero biceps. Kids don't care about big display stands, and most adult collectors don't seem to be into the show.

Mattel should have aimed this line more at kids with an entry level price point. It's a shame that it fizzled as quickly as it did.

I wanted them until I saw them up close at a few Cons. I think they look too stiff and lifeless. Not worth the money they were charging.

Someday Mattel will get that its price points are killing the lines. That along with the horrible distribution.
Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learned something from yesterday.

^I've come to like the show. I still feel it's a bit too dour most of the time, and some of the characters are aggravating, particularly their "Hulks SMASH" version of Superboy. But the overall story arc is pretty intriguing. I'd rather have kept B&B of course!

It doesn't surprise me. They were overpriced and underarticulated.
