India recently declared dolphins to be non-human persons and deserving of specific rights. Next, they'll try to do the same thing for women.
Never got into the show, occacionally watched it for its pure stupidity.

I remember watching the cartoon in Junior High. It was funny b/c everyone watched it but it was kind of hush-hush because everyone wanted to act liek they were too old for it. Had a few figures and my Grandmother ended giving me $25 when I was around $15 so she could givem them to a kid who lived down the street. I'll probably read the series just see what the take on it is.
Yah, I hated the cartoon. I felt it was the bottom of the barrel for Filmation. A lot of afternoon cartoons at that time seemed to be badly written tho. It also seemed some of their PSA style endings were written by different writers & not privy to the actual episode's story.

The mini-comics "wandering barbarian" incarnation of He-Man was the one I always preferred.
I can understand why DC wanted to introduce the concept of an alter-ego/secret identity, but I always found it unnecessary.
Ralph McQuarrie did some great concept art for the 1987 MOTU movie, keeping close to the classic design, but unfortunately director Gary Goddard wanted to move away from the look of the toys.
The version of Skeletor shown below was when Goddard was thinking of having Skeletor as just a guy in a skull mask... thankfully they didn't go with that in the end.

Looking for loose MEGO COMIC ACTION HEROES
Did DC come up with the Prince Adam concept, or were they working from early concepts Filmation had created for the show, which must have been in production at that point? I've always wondered that. The mini-comics "wandering barbarian" incarnation of He-Man was the one I always preferred.

The movie is a sore spot for me. MOTU was the first toyline I dropped as I got into my tween years, probably due to the somewhat sillier nature of the cartoon over say, GI Joe or Transformers. So when the movie came out the following year, I thought I'd get to revisit my old friends again. To me it's too far afield from the concept. I'd much rather seen the movie based on the drawings above (minus the skull-mask Skeletor of course).
Anyone read Concrete Fragile Creature? It's essentially a fictionalized account about Concrete working behind the scenes of The Masters of the Universe movie, which apparently cut fairly close to the bone around the insiders perspective working on the film.

I was always baffled why they didn't make Lundgren He-Man action figures. He definitely had a toyetic look for the character.

What terrible marketing! Courtney Cox's face is turned so you can't see her! I know she was not this well-known Friends actress then but still-a pretty face fills seats at the box-office.
How did he get insider info to incorporate it into the comic? Did he actually work on the film or know someone who did?

The movie seems to borrow a lot from Jack Kirby's New Gods.
