    The Poseidon Adventure blu ray

just came out as a Walmart exclusive. I love this movie right down to Gene Hackman as a kick butt preacher.

It's arguable whether this or Airport spawned the disaster movie genre. However, when looking at Airport, that movie was about containing a possible big disaster caused by a despondant suicide bomber on the plane. Poseidon adventure has the characters actually dealing with a big disaster (with some of them dying) so I think the nod has to go to Poseidon.

Lots of extras which were carried over from the DVD special edition so for $15 bucks (thereabout) it's a great buy for lovers of 70's movies and diaaster movies. And it has a great John Williams score which I think was one of his first theatrical scores (not so coincidently he did Work on Irwin Allen shows so he ended up working on the Irwin Allen film)

Well, Irwin Allen who did Poseidon Adventure, and The Towering Inferno did earn the nickname "The Master Of Disaster", so I think maybe he started the genre.

This is my favorite of the disaster movies of the 70's. I love Gene Hackman in this.

The movie is full of so many dramatic sick moments that I'm compelled to
watch it 30 times a year.... one of my staples.

My favorite part in the movie is when the main group of heroes
leave behind the others in the dining area.... crazy!
When I .... how do you say (?) .... think of my mindframe on this spaceplane, I'm Skywalker with my X-Wing like I was when I was a kid.

Thanks for the heads up! I will be getting that today!
It's not how hard you hit, but how hard you can be hit and still move forward.

Correct, Airport had everybody except the bomber surviving (Jackie Bissett did get injured though) So, the nod has to go to Poseidon.

My favorite disaster film besides "A Night To Remember". I'll have to pick this up.
