Someone above mentioned the show "Emergency", reminded me of a cute story:
Years ago I owned a new and vintage toy store (late 90s), a little kid came up to the counter with a vintage Emergency fireman's hat. The little kid was very shy and I could tell he was bummed he didn't have enough money for the fireman's hat.
So I told the kid that he should go down the street to Toys R Us where he could find a BRAND NEW fireman's hat, all shiny and much less expensive than this collectable one from the 70s, I tried to explain to the little kid that this was an antique...
Then the 6 year old kid looks me right in the eye like he's about to cry and says "I've been looking for this all my life, I watch Emergency every day!"
So, naturally I told the boy he could have it for the $5 he had.
I had no idea Emergency reruns were running on some cable channel at the time.
And the look on that kid's face when he put on that hat was priceless.
I thought: "this is what toy collecting is all about!"

Great story, sounds like the kid was an old soul, or knows a great show thanks to his parents, either way good on you for giving him hope and the seed to collect, who else will buy all our toys when we all start selling this stuff in the future
