LOVE the original, one of my favorites. The remake was pretty poor.

This is one of my favorite movies!!! Carpenter ruled with this flic!!! A perfect formula. Evil Leper pirates come back from their watery grave for revenge!!! The perfect evil villains!!!
The re-make would have done well to follow this premise. All I can remember was they tried to turn the motivation into some kinda love story. And YES Adrienne Barbeau' is Totally hot in the movie!!!
Now go watch THE THING and Precinct 13!

Loved The Fog .....I actually went up to Inverness and Point Reyes (CA) a few years back (where the movie was filmed) - a lot of the scenery still looked the same. Awesome place to visit if you get a chance. It gets pretty foggy at night too which is pretty cool (I know, that's why they filmed there, hence the title) but you can imagine what the brain tends to do in that type of situation after watching the film

^^^ Yeah Carpenter did alot of movies like Precinct 13 and The Fog that should have been just as famous as his Halloween and Thing films.

Absolutely! What most people don't realize is how important that film was for Kurt Russell. Kurt had been typecast as a Disney boy after doing so many films for them. Nobody wanted him for action adventure roles because no one thought he would translate well for audiences. Carpenter believed he could and gave him his first big break. People often wonder why he looks so scruffy and has the scratchy voice and patched eye. That's why. The rest, as they say, is history. That film sparked a whole new career for him. I think that has allot to do with why they remain such good friends today. Kurt has never forgotten what Carpenter did for him.

im glad Carpenter fought for Russell to play Snake and Escape from New York really be his first action film and to think a year earlier Dino De Laurintis wanted Russell as his first choice to play Flash Gordon. Kurt turned down the script but Dino kept throwing $$$ at him and never wanted to talk about the script
