WorldMego Is there a way to remove a retro head with out breaking it off?

    Hello experts!

todays question - I wanted to remove a dc retro head from its body.

It broke off at the neck plug.

is there a way to remove the full head with the neck plug?
or is the neck plug attached to the inside of the body?

as always thanks for any info or advice.

    Thanks
    Vinny0026

It can be tricky but the best way i found was to take a flathead screwdriver just inside the shoulder socket and gently try to pry the the seam that connects the front chest piece to the back chest piece apart. It just takes patience. If you use too much pressure you will just rip the plastic. Of course if you don't plan on using the retro body again use all the pressure you need.

    Thanks Mark

I will let you know how I make out -
I try not to break the bodies because I throw them back up on e bay (like small fish) lol!

I grabbed a batman just to steal his suit
and figured I might as well try to save the head if I can

    thanks again

You could also take Monkey grip pliers and put under the arm pits; squeeze tight and the head will pop out......works all the time for me.

use the old boil and pop trick, get a pot of boiling water going hold the figure with thongs place the head and shoulders in the water wait 2-3 mintes take body from water and using a cloth towel gently but frimly pull the head while holding the body and it usually pops off.

I am making a fist fighting Shazam and Black Adam. So to use the heads without killing the heads, I destroyed the bodies. I cut the legs off and then worked my way up breaking off pieces to get the head to come out cleanly.

I'm with hawkmike on the boiling method. I have been able to remove heads, feet, etc. by submerging them in boiling water to soften them up where no other method worked shy of trashing them. I also figured out boiling water method works to tighten up knee joints on the original mego femal bodies. I had a Zira body with loose knees and, using tongs, held her about thigh deep in a pot of boiling water for about 4 minutes. I then put tiny spring loaded clamps that I got from Home Depot on the knees joints and let them cool with the clamps on. Tightened the knee joints up like they were brand new.

That's what I've done. Worked every time. It also helps you slide a flat head down the side if needed. Just watch piercing the neck plug.
