Thread: marvel vinyl figures from japan

  1. #21
    Yup, not 1990s

They were out in the late '90's in Japan. This was the same time that Beast wars was big because they had little toy/model kits of Leo Convoy next to them. They started importing them somewhere around 2000-2004 in the U.S..

Those monsters look great! Wish i knew about 'em, I'd try and get a set.

Also, occurs to me that we've gotten, or are getting at least 6 of those monsters in Mego format from EMCE. We just need an EMCE Phantom and a Metaluna Mutant!

No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life."

    Yeah, I second that....

I dunno why Hong Kong Sellers can't selling them in the U.S and Canada when they're released from the factory.

I love those Yanoman Universal Monsters, and that b&w set with the glow Mutant chase figure is a steal at $38.

I bit the bullet and purchased a "set" of 10 on eBay. I was a little wary because the listing used stock images and it was coming from Hong Kong. But the seller had great feedback, and I made sure I read the listing as carefully as possible so I wasn't buying one figure instead of 10. The best thing was the price, $25 + $24.99 SH, and I had just gotten a $25 eBay gift card for my birthdays. Single figures are going from $8 to $15 a piece so $2.50/figure (after using my gift card) seemed like a good deal. Anyway, long story short, they arrived today and I was stunned to find out I had purchased a shrink-wrapped, unopened display box! Here's a few pics of the packaging:

My daughter woke up from her nap just I was starting to open them, so we did it together. It was a lot of fun to see what each one was as we opened the boxes, and to see which we got doubles of. I started to put one together and realized we needed the blow-dryer, it was harder than replacing a Mego head! I'll take more pics tomorrow of the figures.

The seller has another set up. He's upped the price a bit, but lowered the shipping. Still a good deal if you ask me.

More pics. Got color variants of Spidey, Doom, Silver Surfer and Iron Man. Love the Mego-esque feel of the display box.

Thanks. I was very pleasantly surprised to discover I'd purchased a brand new unopened case.
