If you told me that Charles M Shulz drove a gold plated rocket car to work everyday, I'd be inclined to believe you. Snoopy seemed to be to the 1970s that Garfield was to the 1980s.
I loved Snoopy as a kid. (still do) I ate Zingers, watched the TV holiday specials, and colored in my coloring books. I will never forget the day my mom came home and surprised me w/ a copy of "Who's That Funny Looking Kid With the Big Nose?" That's still one of my favorite Peanuts books.
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."
Snoopy is STILL the ultimate embodiment of cartoon cool if you ask me!
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

One of my fondest memories of childhood was when my Dad would bring us Zingers home from the vending machine at his job. I associate Snoopy with that nice memory. Good stuff.

Here's a Zingers memory for ya. Back in the days before seatbelts, there were a couple of times I was coming home w/ my dad, sitting in the front seat of our car. Well, someone cut him off, and I went sliding off the seat and whacked my head on the glove compartment. To keep me from telling my mom what happened, he'd bribed me w/ "Buster Browns". What he meant what CHARLIE Brown Zingers. (BTW...I still told my mom )

I still have, over forty years later the Peanuts sayings that was on my bedroom sheets ingrained in my head."Happiness is waking up,looking at the clock and finding out you still have three hours left to sleep". That is Happiness,i love when that happens, even more today.
