How does your Wife or Husband and kids feel about your Collecting?

The #1 thing I hear when I buy collections is "My wife wants it out of the house"

My wife loves what I do and loves being in my office full of vintage toys

Curious for others..... is the support there?

It's WHY my wife married. She couldn't resist when I told her, "You know, Babe, My llose Supergirl doll still has the clear band holding her hair down." WHo could resist that pcik-up line?!?!

My wife is 100% in support of it... kind of came as a surprise to me when I started collecting...

My daughter LOVED it when she was little, as she used to make off with my toys. She returned a bunch of hijacked stuff just recently. The last toy she played with (even after she had me put the Barbies in the attic) were Dinah-Mites.

My son... doesn't care. It's all about video games.

Wife is totally supportive. She started collecting Barbies while we were dating. I took her into TRU and Wal-Mart so much she had to buy SOMETHING. Just a few weeks ago she told me I NEEDED the Hot Toys Captain America. I didn't argue much!

The kids love it. Both of my kids are eaten up with super heroes. Even my 4-year old daughter. She's all about the Fisher Price Little People DC figures and Imaginext offerings. My 10-year old son loves to show folks "the collectibles room". He has almost as much stuff as I do now!!!

My wife came over to my house when we started dating, and saw my collection and my Mom's Barbie collection, who I inherited from when she passed away, and said boy you're kids are gonna love you.....

She's always been supportive of it, never ever complained about it.......

My wife really can't stand it, but she puts up with it. I don't think her brain is wired to understand the collector mentality, but she knows I like it and lives with it.

My two older kids are ambivalent toward it. The oldest has a similar attitude as my wife. My daughter thinks it's cool but not really up her alley. My youngest son loves it and is a collector himself. He is always asking me questions about stamps, coins, etc. He loves looking at everything I collect.

The kids like to see what I have in my display case but don't really seem to have much interest past that.

My wife puts up with it...she just rolls her eyes from time to time when ANOTHER package shows up!

She didn't understand it for the longest time. So, I opened up the closet, pointed at her shoes (specifically the 4 pairs of Dansko clogs that were in different colors), and said, "It's like that, but with toys."

Of course, she hated that I was being a smart-arse, but since then, we've both cut waaaaaaay back on stuff. In fact, I'm probably going to be purging a chunk of my collection pretty soon.

For the most part, my wife is ok with my collecting. What she isn't too fond of is the space that I take up in the house with the stuff. Pretty much the entire attic and basement are all mine...

My kids love it! How many dads are always up for a trip to Toy's R Us? They both seem to had the "bug"...My son loves the SuperHero Imaginext stuff and my daughter is positively addicted to Monster High....she even keeps the boxes.
