Anyone know how to convert Quick Time videos to Windows Media?

    Hi guys....

I have another technical question. I used my camera to make a video for the first time, (actually shot the video as opposed to a photo slideshow), and I didn't know that my camera shot Quick Time. YouTube doesn't support Quick Time. Any suggestions?

(and please keep it simple, if possible.)

Are you sure about that? I have upped some quicktime clips before in the past on youtube with no problem.

I thought QT files were also basically MOV. files and pretty much universally playable?

When I tried to load it, I got the "we don't normally accept this format, but we'll try and process it anyway". Now that was almost an hour and a half ago, and it's STILL processing!!

There is a great and free program that converts
any video format to any other video format.

I use it all the time and it works great.

    It is called Format Factory.

    I hope this helps.

Quicktime Pro will convert to WMV as well. But it's not free, like Format Factory

YouTube does support .mov files and most all codecs. I would recommend sticking with QT and not transcode to WMV due to the poor compression algorithms. Plus when it gets re-compressed on youtube's side, it doesn't come out as clear as your source file.
Do you know what codec it creates? You can see it if you open up the file in properties and find the info.
If it's a DV it should take it. I upload ProRes files at 720x480 SD with no issues.
If you want to transcode to a better format, make an MP4 with the H264 codec or to .AVI if you favor Window Platform. There are free programs that do it such as MPEG STREAMCLIP and VLC.

Uh...remember when I said keep it simple? You're speaking Greek! I wanna load this on YouTube, but I refuse to go through all this trouble just for a video. I've said it before and I'll say it again, people make things harder than they have to be. Having a camera that makes videos that aren't compatible w/ widely used systems doesn't make any sense. If the photos can be loaded in a WMV format, than the videos should too. Making them 2 different formats is just stupid. Thanks for you help guys, but I think I'll just stick to Webcam and photoshoots.

I had trouble uploading photos once to Facebook, it took forever. I'd stop the current upload, restart your computer and try again and see what happens.

    My 2 cents.

I upload QT movies to YouTube often. Not sure why yours won't upload, unless the camera uses some special proprietary flavor of QT.
