    Price Removable cowl Batman question

Looking to purchase a removable cowl Batman with stirrups, skinny boots and emblem. Not really looking for a MIB and doesn't have to be in absolute mint, but would like very good condition with all original T0 (or T1) body, costume and parts.

What would be an all around fair price for this figure? And does anyone here have one they are looking to part with?

    Thanks in advance!

Well if this auction (which ended just minutes ago) is any indication, there appears to be some desire for it right now. A busted up figure missing a hand, decal and one split boot went for $51.06 with pricey shipping. Link included below. I think you could get one complete for under $100.00. That's with all original accessories. But watch out for repro pieces. Especially with the decal, gloves, boots, and most importantly the cowl. The cowl is the most valuable piece on him, so make sure that is authentic if your going to invest the money. Figures with repro cowls may also have repro heads and those are a dime a dozen. So stay away from those. I think a healthy price would be $85.00 to $90.00 tops for a loose sample with everything there and original.

I've been watching Mego auctions rather closely for the last year and ebay prices for all original RC Batman have been in the $100 to $150 range with regularity. Now that may be high, but that seems to be the market for them lately, in terms of ebay.

    Thanks!

Thought about eventually piecing one together, so I was just watching that one. But with the lack of images and the overall condition that I could see - I wasn't going to go over $30. Even though the cowl alone might have been worth more than that.

Stirrups and skinny boots are pretty important to me though. Figure if I'm going to go in on a removable cowl, might as well go all the way!

There are several things to look at for value in an RC bats.
85 - 100 for an RC without stirrups or skinny boots is certainly possible.
However, if you are looking for the earliest RC bats with all proper accessories, the price will go up. I would also say that the skinny boots as a pair are probably worth more than the cowl.
If the figure has an original sticker, you may even top two bills.

Definitely agree. All original, stirrups and skinny boots definitely could fetch $200+ these days. Unless you can get lucky and find a hidden auction.

If you can get a figure with the cowl, I would go that direction. The cowl alone often sales for more than what I think it's worth. I've seen them sale for $25.00 which is fine. But I've also seen them sale for $55.00, which I think is insane. In my opinion it's simply too common an item, even given it's historical importance to Mego's Batman. I would also check out Mego lots on Ebay. Alot of times you find an errand one laying in one of those piles. It may serve you well to piece some of the accessories, but as stated, I wouldn't buy the cowl loose. Those are money pits. Best of luck!

Thanks everyone! You pretty much confirmed what I originally thought. There were just some eBay offers and auctions that I kept feeling were a bit off, so I wasn't sure. I kept noticing either good price/low quality or crazy price/high quality. Don't even get me started on reproduction parts with sketchy descriptions even on the higher priced items.

There were many complete (or nearly) under $100, but they were always lacking somewhere in the condition or parts I was desiring. Didn't want to purchase a figure for $65-95 knowing I was going to replace it later on.

Thought about Frankensteining one together, but the prices of good quality pieces added up to much more than I wanted to spend with the time and effort involved. And yeah, MIB41, just the original cowls alone were/are averaging between $35 to $50+ alone. All those pieces add up. And as I stated, I really want those stirrups and skinny boots!

Thanks again everyone will let you know how my hunt goes ;-)

Not only the parts themselves add up. You also incur a lot more shipping charges by piecing one together vs. buying one whole. Something to think about.

    Ohhhh, yeah! That too!

Slightly off topic - I remember, early on, when I first hit eBay - there were a couple of auctions that I won for really low prices. Was so excited that the bidding was going so cheaply that I didn't bother to look at the shipping. My heart dropped both times during checkout . Should have only took once. Learned my lesson by the second time.
