Anyone else loosing a Toys R Us?

The Lake Wales store is closing after Feb. 17th. I asked the cashier why it was closing as it had been pretty busy most times. He said that TRU was consolidating with the Babys R US stores and relocating this one to Lakeland about 25 miles away. This is the best part, the store that they are closing is only 5 miles away from the only toy based theme park in Florida, Legoland. Brilliant move corperate.

And you consider losing TRU a loss? I look at it as great news for a new better business to come along to take their place.

However, It will be bad for those that are employed once again. So much for job creation. Whenever a company mentions the word "consolidate" look out.

TRU has a much better selection than Walmart or Target, plus its not WalMart.

I like Target or as I like to refer to it as "Tar-Jay". The only thing that I could say that I "might" miss about TRU would be their exclusive items. Other than that one can always shop on line.

seeing TRUS go down in flames would bring a big smile to my face and tears of joy. I worked for that horrible company when I was younger.....I should've and anyone who makes a career there should have their heads examined. they don't give two hoots about their employees....

On one hand, I would hate to see Toys R Us close. We already lost Lionel Play World, Children's Palace, Circus World, Kay Bee and a few more that slip my mind. Toys R Us is the last of a near dead breed. Even though I don't buy much there, I still like to look around.

Now, on the other hand, their prices are high compared to Target and Walmart. I also had worked at TRU for a short while during holidays for extra money, and have to agree with Kingdom warrior here, they really don't give a hoot for their employees. I won't go into details but it is one of the worst places I ever worked at.

Agree, you know what it is people have nostalgia for that stupid Jeffrey and that blasted song and those kids singing it...and memories of going there as a kid.....but when you know the truth about them and how they treat their workers you wouldn't bat an eye to see them go.......

I would only hope that those giant Toy stores disappear and Mom and Pop type toy stores pop up more.....but that's wishful dreaming in this horrible economy......

The Toys R Us in the Oakland/Emeryville border had switched to a Baby R Us...but it failed miserably...so it has been converted back to a regular Toy R Us...

McDonalds actually has a good system......that's actually not that bad.....I had a friend who worked there when he was young, he never complained.....
