Thread: Saudi Arabia Scams?

    Saudi Arabia Scams?

Guy contacts me. Telling me to change my options about shipping to his country. I tell him no, he asks again. Then he tells me he wants 2 items, I still say no.

Seconds latter an account with a FLORIDA address wins the auction, no feedback. I cancel and relist. He contacts me telling me it's his US address.

    Then *****es later.

I don't trust stuff like this. Scammer?

    Hmmmm....

It's really weird.... but it could be legit. A lot of folks who deal with the US but live in other countries will get US mailing addresses: sometimes it'll be a relative or friend, and there are companies that offer it for a fee.... kinda like a PO Box but not. (Since a lot of folks are creeped out by PO Boxes....)

I would steer clear. Although it may be legit like Don said, you have no way of recouping the loss if it is a scam. Just explain that to the buyer and apologize. I am sure if the buyer is legit they will understand.

I have had that happen as well. Someone in Europe wanted to bid on an item and I politiely explained whey I don't. He then asked if I would ship to a U.S. address and I responded "yes" as long as it was verified. It was, he won and the transaction went off without a hitch.

I never understood the fear of post office boxes, as long as the buyer is verified i'm cool. I can't have mail delivered cause i live at the top of a mountain so i use a po box.
I also don't allow zero feedback buyers so if someone even tries to bid it's blocked.

    >I never understood the fear of post office boxes

I suspect it's a holdover from the olden days when PO Boxes were used by unscrupulous types to run all sort of scams. One of them things like "breaking a mirror = 7 years bad luck;" everybody knows it, l but few remember why.

I vaguely remember that Ebay wouldn't protect against items sent to P.O. boxes (this was pre Paypal days). Maybe I'm wrong but that seems to be what I remember.
