Great reunion story. I also got a SMDM for Christmas years ago. I also got that crystal radio backpack to go with him. I remember clipping it to the heating vents in the house and listening to AM radio. I envied my Nieghbor friend cause he got the transport/ repair station and Bigfoot with his SMDM. Those were great times back then!!!

Awesome. Keep in mind the new 8 inch SMDM figures will be out in 2012!
It's not how hard you hit, but how hard you can be hit and still move forward.

Takes me back to Christmas morning, 1975. Best xmas ever.

  8. Still my favorite toy ever. While perusing your post I was at my parents place and my Mom saw your pics and she told me that she remembers that Christmas quite fondly because I was so excited to receive this toy. We went to family that day back in 1976 and I brought good old Steve Austin on his first mission and showed him to all my uncles and what he could do. I actually forgot those memories but Mom reminded me how proud I was of my new toy. Your first pic is now my desktop background LOL.............great toy!

I had put in an ad a few years ago in our local paper looking for toys from the 70s, thisl guy called me and told me a story of his Mom, she had recently died, she had kept his favorite toy and gave it to him before she died, it was a SMDM in in it's original box with all paper work, he no longer wanted it because of the memories it came with, he asked his kids if they wanted it, they did not. We met, I freaked because this thing was mint and I told him if that it would be cherished and I ever decided to sell it I would call him first, he gave it to me for $40 and it is one of my favorite toys in my collection.

Their is more to this story but I have to go and be with family and friends, cheers to all and Happy New Year.

    Awesome, awesome story.
There really seems to be something about old Steve Austin... after posting those pics, I went to get a haircut on Saturday. While I was waiting, I started chatting with some one and we started talking about Christmas when we were kids. Then he starts talking about his best x-mas was getting a 6MDM... and now the DVD's are out and he went to Ebay to price the toys. After getting my Steve Austin a few days ago, it was kinda weird. But a good weird.
