    Of course I liked him in MASH, Dragnet, Support Your Local Sheriff, etc. But one role that gets overlooked was as the sheriff in "The Shootist". He really gives John Wayne a hard time, all the time reigning it in enough to not get shot. Great movie too.

    Bummer...

    I just never could get into the Harry Morgan/David Ogden Steirs/Mike Farrell M*A*S*H replacement cast...maybe it was the writing but none of them had the comedic timing of McLean/Larry Linville/Wayne Rogers...
