In New York we got the day off of school, and even had assemblies about it the week before. Here in CA non one even thinks about it really. Although I think the banks might be closed.

In all the years I worked I never had Columbus Day off. So to me it's always been just another day.

Enjoying the day off. Having 2 lunches at school today. Just had lunch with my first grader and going back for desert with my 4th grader!

I think the only people who get this day off around here are bankers and teachers.
It's not how hard you hit, but how hard you can be hit and still move forward.
Teachers do not get thge day off, at least here. My wife teaches and is at work. My youngest son is out of school though but my 2 oldest are not.
