    Question Need Atari Expert Advice

We are all geeks here and I know lot's of us collect vintage video game's. I still have an atari 2600 (play it all the time) and would like to buy a truck load of games for it since I am really sick of the games I have.
My question is, are Atari games region limited? I would like to buy games from america but my Atari is from Australia.
I don't think that they are limited by regions because there is no mention of any thing like that on the box and I dont think the humans had invented that back in the early 80's.
Can any one help, I dont want to buy a hundred games from the USA and have them not work on my atari.
any help would be appreciated thanks.

I am admittedly an Atari geek as well. I still get alot of enjoyment from playing the old 2600 games.

As for the difference between regions, I do believe that there were NTSC and PAL versions of games for North America and Europe, etc., respectively. I have never tried using one format on another system. However at the AtariAge website, I found this mentioned-

"While NTSC games typically work fine in PAL systems, the opposite is not true. If you try to play a PAL game on an NTSC television, you are usually presented with a rolling display."

So it sounds like you might have luck playing an American cartridge on a foreign system, but not the other way around. I wouldn't go buying a huge lot of NTSC cartridges for your Aussie system without being totally sure first, so check out the Atari websites on the web and see if you can get definitive proof. And good luck!

If you are interested there is astore here that has a whole pile of atari cartridges for 50 cents a piece. I'd be happy to send you a list if you want them.

Ditto...there is a store here that has hundreds of titles for around $1 each...
    "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn"

In the Southeast Pacific, lies the sunken city of R'Leyh. There lies C'thulhu waits to return to our world with the other Great Old Ones. A hideous creature of enormous size and alien power, it waits for it's time to return patiently. For it has all the time in the world while it waits for the stars.

atariage.com has roms and downloads of pretty much every atari game ever made by any company as well as fan made games and complete blooklet scans.
i have about 100 atari games myself - great stuff. a couple years ago i had an atari gameathon for new years eve. assuming it was too much a geekfest i planned for about 4 to 5 people.
2 dozen atari junkies came out of the woodwork and i had to kick them out at 4 am.

i sold off most of my doubles and quite a few more rare games but i may still have some doubles - i'll check and let you know if i do.

Somewhere on my computer, I have a PERFECT emulator for the PC with what I think is every Atari 2600 game, over 300 games, I think it even has Custer's Revenge on there too.

It might be small enough to e-mail if anybody wants me to try, drop me a PM with your e-mail address and I'll try to dig it out.
