wow over $1200 and only 9 bids ,someone realy wanted this guy ,congrats to the winner ,was it someone on here its a super cool piece ,really sums up the changes in batman going on in the comics back in the late 1970s ,starting to get grim and gritty ,no more smiles 8inch batman style ,makes you wonder if mego could have continued ,would we have seen more neal adams style of figures ,and how wide spread was this guy realeased ,usa only or through out europe ,i only ask as the magna hero batman shares the same artwork and that was ,i think only released in italy, thanks for any input guys cheers chris

I'm not surprised about the price, I was pretty sure he'd go for at least a grand. I agree that this is the best Batman that Mego did (both figure and packaging) so it's a shame that it's so rare and expensive that most Mego collectors will never enjoy having one (including me )

Pretty sure that it was US only. But it was a real end run product for Mego, so it probably didn't get much distribution at all. I'm guessing that GiG had a bunch of available artwork supplied to them by Mego, to use as they wished, including the art on this box.

It doesn't surprise me, if it is as rare as everyone is saying.

thanks for the input guys ,interesting stuff ,let me ask you how would you rank this batman in terms of rareity against the other 12 inchers ,such as nine and a half inch robin ,comic head superman ,denys fisher power action superman ,non magnetic robin ect ,i light of the fact that ,i belive that nine inch robin ,comic head superman were released in canada only and denys fisher superman was uk only ,and does the fly away action make a big difference price wise ,again thanks for any input cheers chris

It surpasses all of them IMO, although DF Superman is second.

Stuff like the comic head Superman was not exclusive to Canada, although it originated there it was sold in Italy, the UK and France.

The only blue box I am aware of should contain the 12" non Magnetic Robin, it's worth 3 bills IMO. The 9.5 " comes in a green box and is also worth 3 bills.

The Non-Magnetic 12.5" Fly Away Action Batman is mine!

    Chris,

I am the proud owner of this Non-Magnetic 12.5" Fly Away Action Batman MIB figure. I now have two of them (see pics below of both that I currently own), although this one's box is complete and in great shape considering it's rarity. I have the Non-Magnetic Robin in a C9.5 box and I really wanted this Batman to go with my Robin. I was thrilled to have won him and the seller was Super nice! Here are some more pics that the seller sent me before I won it on Ebay two months ago today.

Here's the first one (below) I bought from a seller in Italy off Ebay named DarthKriss:
