    I'm Giving Up On Ebay....

Once i am done selling off my collection which i hope to have done by halloween i am done with ebay for good...It's unreal how many liars and scam artists are on ebay these days and it's just not worth it anymore. I sold someone a mint condition transformer, magically it arrived damaged by the post office so i was magically responsible for it so i said ok,return it to me and what did i get back? a completely different broken transformer in a beat up box....I called ebay and the guy told me straight out sorry, that there is really nothing that i can do about it....I'm done...I can't get rid of my collection fast enough at this point.....

Beware if your selling on there!!! There's some sinister people just waiting to rip you off

Ebay is absolutely not worth the effort. It takes a great deal of time for a seller to post an item with good pictures, and no effort at all for the buyer to end up with the item and their money. Selling online at all is getting dicey, unless you are fortunate enough to belong to a community like the Megomuseum. If I were in your shoes I would do my best to sell here or on Craigs List. Of course, that is only my opinion.

Man...that sucks big time...I also hate ebay as a seller...I hope they eventually go down the toilet unless they change their current stupid anti-seller policies.

I'm with you on this one. I gave up on eBay in April for several reasons. I had a similar experience as you with a "return", and when I discovered that PayPal automatically seized the funds from my account and sent them to the buyer immediately upon "delivery confirmation", before I had a chance to even open & verify the contents, that was it for me. That realization and the new policy to include shipping charges as part of the final value of the item sold were the final two straws for me.

Other annoyances are the DSR's, especially the shipping cost (buyers use this feature to vent their annoyance with the increasing real expense, not to fairly evaluate the actual cost vs. any unfair markup); the inability to fairly rate buyers; the poor quality of the photo upload feature; buyers who fail to read the auction content; bids from countries that are clearly excluded from my listings; and the overall lack of support for sellers from eBay customer service.

I've noticed selling stuff to 80's kids on ebay is usually big trouble.

Not knocking anyone here that age, but in the wild it seems 80's kids are way worse than 60's and 70's kids.

It's stories like this that have kept me from selling on e-bay. If I do, I'm going to try to record video of myself in the PO or UPS store loading & sending the box - 1 continuous video, unedited. Let the Postal Inspector charge the other guy with mail fraud.

This has been my problem with ebay for a while now...Lets say someone has a figure in their collection but it isn't perfect...say an 8" Lizard but the lab coat is stained....you sell a mint one to this guy on ebay but when it arrives, he complains that the condition was not as described. Ebay tells him to send it back to you with tracking in order to receive a full refund and so he does. Only instead of sending back the one you just sold, you get the one that he had in his collection with the stained lab coat. As soon as the tracking number has been confirmed to have arrived at your address they go right in and suck the money out of your paypal account and there's nothing you can do to stop it. When you get the lesser figure in return, you're screwed because as far as ebay is concerned, you sold a Lizard and a Lizard was returned to you. They don't care about condition issues and basically let some guy pull a fast one on you and upgraded to a nicer figure for the cost of shipping. This also works when you sell a complete item and the buyer says that it arrives incomplete...they send you back the "incomplete" figure and keep whatever piece they needed claiming it was never there to begin with. Ebay has set up shop like they're a Wal-Mart...buy an appliance and it doesn't work, just return it for one that does but they do not take into account the thousands of sellers that sell collectible items where there can be many variances and condition issues with each individual item. If you sell long enough on ebay you will get burned...
