This weekend I bought a Kanamit figure for just this purpose.![]()
I really hope this isn't true. I'm just one guy, but I'm not planning on buying an TNG figured. I'm guessing that the Venn Diagram of nerd interests has a lot more overlap between TOS and Mego than TNG and Mego. But I guess only sales figures will tell the tale.
Well that's a darn shame. Guess the line ends with Pike and Salty, huh?
I wonder if the earlier waves were overproduced... especially Spock and Bones. I know Kirk/Klingon were difficult to get for a while, but it seems Spock and Bones were never in short supply. I know I saw several pegs of them at the FAO Schwarz in Vegas two or three years ago, and was amazed at the number... probably no less than 15 of each.
I will miss this line a lot. It's been so much fun to collect.
If the line is really dead, this is definitely one of those rare cases where you can be more grateful it ever existed than sad its gone. I dreamed for years of owning a Mego Romulan and Andorian, and I still can't believe I was able to buy them at retail from a store. If any of the guys behind EMCE ever need a kidney, I'm all in.
Someone might want to check the post SDCC EMCE Trek TNG thread, but if memory is serving me (and it might not be). After the TOS ReMegos, diamond renewed their trek license and it included the other Franchises as well, so EMCE proposed a line of Trek Universe figures which would encompass mixes of characters from shows? But it's ultimately Diamond that decides? So even if orders for Chapel and Vina aren't sufficient this round, I'm still hoping they might get mixed in down the road.
After all, the series 2 Night of the Living Dead figures originally were cancelled, but circumstances have changed and now we are getting them!
Ed, you're right - Doc never said anything even remotely like "TOS cancelled." I guess that's how soda and pop-rocks stories persist.
What he said, pretty clearly, I think in one of the MM Podcast talks, was that DST moved production to their own factories, and were only using their own molds. They didn't have a female body mold like DM's factory does (that's his own tooling) so DST would have to have a sufficient sell-through reason to cover the cost of making a new female body mold set for Vina/Chapel... he pointed out something like the Dawn figure would help that along if green-lit.
It was stated that EMCE also pitched a wide variety of characters from across the ST properties, all of which DST could consider. That's where the TNG figs come in, not as a replacement for TOS but as brand expansion.

Looking for Tong body style LHT/Australian release Ninjas of any color, and here's :::My Expansive Wants List::: WARNING: I am medical malady boy, and have recently proven to be chronic iffy-to-negligible-trader-response-guy. Like After School Special worthy. This is my self-imposed Scarlet Letter.
If that's the case, then HORRAY for TNG megos, Troy, Yar and Guinen could make the mold issue worthwhile.
