    Cardboard Playsets

So how many cardboard playsets have been made and what do they look like?
This, in my opinion, was the first, and is considered my Grail piece. Warren Paper Products 1937 Dr. Huer's Laboratory:

wow...that is pretty cool. i wonder how many actually still exist

do the Mego sets count as cardboard? I mean they are cardboard just covered in vinyl....Batcave, Apes City, Ape Fortress, Hall of Justice

there was also Moon Base Alpha from Mattell which was cardboard covered in vinyl too
more recently, in the 90's for Star Wars they had card board Jabbas Palace and the Cantina from Mos Eisle. Vnitage Star Wars had quite a few sets that had card board backdrops, I think they were all exclusives to Sears or something - cantina, hoth, tattoine

      Hmmmm....

I remember back in the late 70's/early 80's Voortman made a series of cardboard playsets and cards that came on the boxes of their snacks. The story was very Battlestar Galactica, but I don't remember too much more, and haven't been able to track down any info.

Here is the Palitoy cardboard Death Star playset. I actually like this one better than the Kenner one.

That Palitoy playset's quite impressive.. Hard to determine which (Palitoy or Kenner..) I would buy.

I've been thinking about those 1973 Ideal Kmart sets.. I BEGGED for my mom for the Spidey one for a whoppin' $3.49 or something at the time (the Batman one was impressive as well..), never got one.

I'm sure they were sold for a buck each when they were being closed out.

Finally bought it still wrapped for $80 earlier this year.

DON'T KNOW what it is, but to a 10yr old, with nothing else out there (just before Mego WGSH's hit..), with ALL the characters beautifully drawn front and back, it was beautiful.
            Peace.. Through Superior Firepower.

Jestoy had a Space Place set for Barbies w/ cardboard backdop and floor and plastic accessories. Sears had a Space Control Center/recording studio set that was held together w/ clips, w/ an AM radio console. (I have these two sets). I think Sears also had a disco club set made the same way.

Always prefered the Kenner Death Star.

No, sorry and BTW this one isn't from me as I don't have that playset.
And there's only a few more on the web.
This website has (customs?) scan of the parts but sadly too small to print:

That one has larger ones and some pics :

If someone has that playset I'd love to see some pics with action figures

I have wanted that Palitoy Death Star for many years as an adult. As a child I'm glad I had the plastic one.
I doubt cardstock would have lasted long especially when I liked to play with the death Star in the Bathtub as an "Submarine"

I had a Buck Rogers tv show set that was mostly cardboard. I think the Stunt Man set from the 70's was cool and the Fighting furies were awesome.
Sadly I have nevr found a Lone Ranger western town . . .or was that Butch and Sundance?
Kenner should have made a Raider of the Lost Ark cardboard set back in the day.

That one's made out of wood; although they DID print instructions for cardboard/foam versions of Hoth and Dagobah. Woman's Day SUpercity is cardboard.
