Karate Men! ( by Aurora) did you have one new?

I have a few I'm restoring , tweaking and I wonder how well the gut/head mechanism to make the fighter fall down worked new?
I have owned about 5 used and they all seem to be punch proof.

I think the hit to the chest just flips an internal lever that lets the figure rock back. When you stand him up it snaps back in. Maybe they get sticky and take a bigger hit to activate as they get older. Doing this from memory as a kid. Haven't seen them in quite a while.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

Yeah it takes mine a really long time to fall down, but they will fall eventually.

        Hmmmm....

Yeah; the catch is pretty solid. As a kid we used to hold the kick lever and just sort of run the foot into the other guy.

Funny this thread came up. Earlier in the evening there was an All in the Family on Antenna TV where Archie bought it for baby Joey for Christmas and Mike said it was too violent. They have close ups on the figures while Archie punches and kicks the other figure that Mike is behind.
          It's all good!

I picked up a set last year and they work....it is hard to get the "kill" but it does work. i keep them out to play with against my kids. I had a set as a kid too but it did not survive long

                  Thats what I've been doing.

I guess they work as well as they were designed to.
These guys are MUCH better than the 1990's Rock em Sock em types.
I used to have A punching kicking Street Fighter I customized with Hall of Fame parts. I remeber a Batman Animated with Penguin, and a Superman with Metallo ? Maybe Terminator?
Seemed to be quite a fad for a while there.
