I still remember where I was when I heard the news.
I was getting ready for school (high school) and I heard it on the morning news.
Throughout the whole day everyone in school was saying how Chapman will probably be killed soon by a fan of Lennon.
Too bad it never happened.
.................................................. .......................
Well, John Lennon fans are generally peaceful, not murderous.
It's too bad. We could use John Lennon today.
I first heard the terrible news during a Monday Night Football telecast, it was a shocking and sad day.
I remember that MNF telecast. My grandad was mad they interrupted the Cowboys game (as I recall) for "that hippie". I was pretty young at the time, I got heavy into Lennon in high school. If I had needed glasses they would have been round ones.
I was on my way to my friends house and stopped because my mom was crying. My dad told me Lennon was dead.A sad day for all.
For our wedding last may my wife and I used "Stand by me" sung by Lennon.
“When you say “It’s hard”, it actually means “I’m not strong enough to fight for it”. Stop saying its hard. Think positive!”
Yeah still remember it like it was yesterday I was also watching monday night football....I went to sleep crying that night....
Such a shame. (listening to "Watching The Wheels" right now)![]()
Rampart, this is Squad 51. How do you read?
I remember that day very well too. I love the lyrics of Imagine. Sheesh time flies doesn't it. May he RIP.
Sad. Unfortunately this was my first dose of reality that we are not immortal. I was only eight and I was listening to my beatle records when I was told about the news from my mother. I wasn't really sure how to take it as a kid but I understand as an adult. Sad day in music history. Really sad day.
