    Fisher Price Adventure People Catalog

One of the most influential Action toy lines of the 1970's, the Fisher Price Adventure people were North America's first 3 3/4" line of action figures and vehicles. These durable toys had great play value and lasted for nearly a decade, here we have a glimpse at the 1983 catalog where the adventure has more of a sci fi slant than ever before.

As a collector I've only delved into this line a little bit yet, but I'm a big fan of the Adventure People and I had lots of it as a kid. I know there's quite a few other enthusiasts on the forum judging by past threads, BaronSat. Thanks for the cool scan!

I forgot how much the AP had moved towards sci-fi by the early '80s. By that point I was more heavily into the RAH GI Joe line and had sorta left the AP behind....though I do recall using some of the old vehicles to play with my small Joes.

Big fan of them, too. This catalog is great to see! I loved that Daredevil Sport Van and everything that came with it. I played with it for years.

I used to love these as a kid. I personally had the Safari set, but my friends had the emergency rescue van, TV van, sea explorer set and the Dune Buster set. We took those things all over the neighborhood. Because of the smaller scale, they really made my parent's backyard seem a whole lot bigger I still have a fondness for the safari kids--the blonde-ponytailed girl in green, and the younger brother in blue--they always reminded me of Jan & Jace from Space Ghost reruns.

I still have the four I got when you could buy them separately.
Crawtron, X-Ray Man, X-Ray Woman, Astro Knight (Blue).
I wish, I had got the Space Commander and Astro Knight (Yellow) back then.

                Hmmmm....

Adventure People are another one of them things I've been resisting the urge to amass. I had a bunch of 'em as a kid, and they got played with A LOT. The one I remember the most is "Becky" the blonde diver from... I dunno what set but they reused the mold for "X-Ray Woman." She ended up being my first custom figure. I used tissue paper and model glue like paper machie to build a suit of armour. (And superglue to reattach it once it dried.) Painted red; she was a cross between a superhero and a stormtrooper: sometimes a good guy, sometimes bad depending on what set of figures we were playing with. (Star Wars she was a good guy, GI Joe a bad guy merc.)

                Funny the things you remember.

                Don C.

FP Adventure People are some of the rare toys that gave me the same feeling each time I see them. Feeling that is perfectly present in old advertisment like this one.

This scan comes from the website FPadventure.com, too bad it doesn't exist anymore. But I still have the othe image published here.
BTW I have some large scan so if any administrator is interested... or I can put them here?

Last thing, I love this set so much (the only one I had as a kid) that I made a Lego version. You can see it there :
