    When Big Bird was scary

I was pretty easily scared kid, how the sight of early Big Bird didn't send me running to my room I'll never know....

I have a very played with and beat up original Big Bird puppet from when he had hard plastic feet real feathers in his head and a rubber mouth that was moved by a stick in the back of the head. He doesn't resemble Big Bird much to this day, but I keep him on for sentimental reasons
    It's all good!

Don't know why, but over here he's called Pino and he's blue

Is it me or does the '72-'76 version remind anyone else of Tom Baker?

I was never afraid of Big Bird, but Cookie Monster scared the crap out of me.

Many years ago (late 70's), some of the Sesame Street characters were visiting a local mall. Big Bird was there and the puppet/costume was huge (must have been a pretty tall person inside the suit). It was made to resemble the height of the actual big bird and I was totally petrified to go anywhere near him

My son had a BB when he was little. He loved it.

I'm pretty sure it's normal sized people in there. Though, how they see once they're in there is beyond me!
