A teary eyed look back at your favourite DC Retros

Well, it kind of feels like a Wake around here, but how about we make it one of those kinds like on my wife's Irish side of the family where they get drunk and tell stories and laugh about the good times? Let's leave all the coulda/woulda/shoulda for the other threads... this one is all about The Like and The Love, and how lucky we were to see Mego Superheroes again after a three decade absence.

Which DC characters were you deliriously happy to finally see in Mego form?

Which DC characters did you think were the biggest improvements on the originals?

As much as Flash and Green Lantern were welcome additions, for me, seeing such an old school Two Face was definitely a delight when I got him into my hands. An extra Batman Rogue... and one of the characters that clawed his way to the top tier since the seventies. He fits right in with the original Joker, Riddler, Penguin and Catwoman.

Most improved for me is definitely Wonder Woman. From the more feminine Mattel body over the square hipped original Mego female, to the fact that she had bare arms and legs sans the "Flesh" body suit. Removable Tiara in proper gold... as well as gold WW, belt and lasso. Great to have removable bracelets as well... with the tiny thing that makes this just shy of perfect is the "comic book blue" colour to symbolize the metallic colour. The bracelets should have been simply silver (particularly if they went with metallic gold on the rest of her, as well as on Shazam's gear). I'm thinking this is going to be the most popular one in the after market... she crosses over with doll collectors.

And let's not forget... how many of you got the warm tummy feeling picking up Retros with your kids at TRU and sharing the love with them? Not a bad feeling to play Megos with your kids right?

I have to agree with samurainoir on WW being the most improved compared to the original Mego figure. That was the one figure I was most anticipating, and they knocked it out of the park.

Darkseid was a great surprise - the puffed up body suit gave him the mass he needed even though he was built on the Retro body (would that they made a Hulk-style body for him!).

Also great to finally get figures like Flash, Green Lantern, and Martian Manhunter, as well as more villains, too. We FINALLY got a Luthor figure!
"It's sad that governments are chiefed by the double tongues. There is iron in your words of death for all Comanche to see, and so there is iron in your words of life. No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life."

Since i managed to only get the 1st wave and the some of the exclusives off Matty,i will say i liked the yellow Sinestro figure the best, really colourful costume and Mego-esque feel to him.

For the ones i don't own yet,i would say i am being drawn to Black Manta for some reason,he look's cool.

I really love having the original 7 JLAers in the same format.
Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learned something from yesterday.

Not really knowing my superheros, but for me its a toss up between Manta/Manhunter, love the look of them, worst Id say "black adam" he just looks plain and boring.

My blog screams loudly with RA love because without them there would be no blog. Each one of the figures is great and appreciated but for me two things really stand out:

    1. In a really goofy way my desire to own a carded '79 Superman and Batman is sorta fulfilled.

    and

    2. The villians have finally brought core members of the Legion of Doom into my collection. Especially Lex!
    Come play!

    My favorites:

    Sinestro(yellow costume)
    Lex Luther
    Green Arrow
    Aquman

The rest of the Retros, I either sold...or never bought in the first place.
