I have been able to pick up decent frames for about $30 on sale. Unfortunately, a lot of the old posters are not the standard size posters that are made today and do not fit in the frames.

It would just be unfeasible to have them custom framed (for me at least). The frame would cost more than the poster is worth.
many times that it is true, it is not worth getting a custom frame for some posters when they can be had for mere dollars, especially new ones which you can some times pick up for free from the video store.
I certainly wouldn't put up a vintage poster with tape though so some times you are really forced into getting a frame, even if you have to spend $40 or so. It is like Mego's I guess, you only get a custom case for expensive one's right?

Wal-Mart's are under $20. And, yes, they will only fit the modern standard 27x40 poster. Most of the older ones tend to run 1 inch too big or too small, usually in the length. The Wal-Mart ones are actually pretty nice. They're not the clip-ons. They won't damage your poster.
