I personally don't have to worry about this particular person anymore. My daughter is going to High School in the fall. I also know the pain of throwing out money for clothes and it is mainly toward her. My wife found a place called "Plato's Closet" which I think is a national franchise type chain of stores that buys gently used brand name clothing and resells it. They are really picky about the items they buy, but most of the items basically look new, they are still in style, and can be 30-50% of the price (sometimes lower) than buying new. My wife and daughter both really like the place. My wife likes to collect purses for some reason (I have never figured that one out) but picked up a $300 purse that looks unused for about $20. One of those designer purses...not a knockoff either.

I hear ya on that one. My wife does the same thing. I always say "I've used the same wallet for 10 years!" .

I have heard one of those stores adverstised around here in the Midwest. I never been to it. I was kind of curious about it though as they sound as if they get nice things.

They have adult sized clothes there too. As an example, I saw a pair of Ed Hardy Blue Jeans in our local one for about $40 looked brand new. I personally don't care for their jeans but know they can run a few hundred dollars a pair.

They're another of the brands owned by Winmark Corp, which also owns Once Upon a Child. Same concept, but aimed at teens.
