    Advice on sculpting?

    Hey guys,
I bought my first casting kit yesterday and have begun sculpting my first mego head. Here's a link to it:

The Life and Times of Julius Destructus: Julius sculpt: part 2

Wondering if any of you have any advice or helpful tips on sculpting on this small scale, tools, how to best get fine detail, techniques, or helpful websites?

Any advice you can get me is appreciated, thanks!

Just keep at it, and every sculpt you do will be better than the last. Never give up. Never surrender. Take no prisoners.

There's also some stuff on YouTube...

And this one from Tony Barton is OSW. I am not sure if you can view it if you are not a member:

That is an interesting/weird tutorial. I think sculpting only the front half of the head would really throw me off. I'll have to try it.

Hey Tim, Congrats on your newest endeavor. I have been dabbling with scultping here and there. I still have not produced any Megospidey or BK material yet, but I keep trying. "Maybe" some day.

Like Jess stated above the more you do it the better you tend to get at it. Being that you are already an artist it should just about come natural to you once you get the hang of it. I look forward to seeing your creations prosper.
Enjoy what you like, and let others enjoy what they like. (C) Azrak 2009

Too much space. Need more toys!

Very nice start Tim. You're already head, shoulders, torso and legs above my abilities. I can't wait to see the final.
    Come play!

Thansk guys, I'll check out that tutorial. My biggest problem thus far has been adding detail, and yet maintaining a smoothness to the surface. Finding at this point simplification is better. I'll keep you all posted on further developments. I've been meaning to try this for years now: )
