Thread: I'm through watching WWE

  1. #31
I knew this angle was DOA when Punk came out with his demands list - and none of it had to do with a being straight-edge. You could see Vince had finally notice the consistent pops he was getting and thought he could parlay it into something like a mainstream rebel.

But when you drop the straight-edge angle, then lose the Cradle of Filth ripoff intro...

for Cult of Personality???? Freakin In Living Color???!!!

That tune was overrated when it hit in the late 80's. I don't care if it was Punk's ROH tune. It's a horrendous choice.

so, yeah, like Nexus. It's over before it started. WWE has no follow through.

I gotta chime in on this, just on GP; Throughout my many years of watching WWF/WWE, there have been many things that have really disappointed me and that I thought were really stupid. The first being Backlund beating Superstar Billy Graham for the belt. I couldn't stand Backlund almost as much as I can't stand Cena. Then SSBG comes back as the karate guy??? ***??? No more jobbers... All kinds of changes. Then the Montreal screw job, the list goes on and on, but THIS takes the cake.

I guess like anything you become a fan of really, things always aren't going to pan out the way you personally see them, or want them to... I understand that. But this whole Cena thing is just too much to bear. He really is SO tired, so OVER... Something told me that when he lost to CM Punk, that he'd be back, but I just didn't think it would be this quick. I dunno-- I miss the 80's WWF.

All this hate for Cena man, the truth of the matter is that he's payed his due to get to where he is...he's still a kiddie favorite and we all know that's what makes the money in the WWE...you take your kids to see him and it's a his ticket and yours vs. just 1 ticket for a teen or adult who hates him

then on top of that...daddy daddy I want a Cena action figure, and his WWE spinning belt

love em or hate him, he brings in a lot of cash and at the end of the day...that's all that matter in the WWE

He's a good guy, strong, good looking, funny....what's not to like ?

So True....the WWE doesn't give 2 Sheets about Old guys liking them or not they want the kids and the the teens to watch and buy their stuff. It's hey Dad you don't like it tough now go buy your Kid that Cena doll and T-shirt....

CM Punk is just as bad a sell out as Cena.....but Punk can't leave he gotta go make that money money money money.....

At MITB Cena didn't want to have a "tarnished win" by having Vince help him out (trying to ring the bell), but Cena has no problem taking on Rey who has already wrestled a match earlier and the evening. They could have held off on the Cena match and let Ray run with it. They could have even done a Triple threat at SummerSlam with Rey, Cena and Del Rio (who actually earned a #1 contenders match a few weeks ago). Having Punk randomly show up at WWE events in the audience would have been better way to go than the current mess they just unleashed last night. And to just give away Rey vs Cena on free tv with no build was a waste.

I think the biggest problem was doing everything in one night. Should have had the Rey/Cena match next Monday.

Cena relates well to the youth of today because he behaves like a punk just like the majority of the youth. Only difference is he wears a belt.

Me too. I know it was so much more corny and over the top but it was so much fun watching back then. There were so many fun characters to watch. I also enjoyed the fact that the Intercontinental and Tag Team titles had prestige and really meant something.
