Plaid Stallions Wind Up Bath Tub Fun

Oh man, my parents sold these (translation: there were tons in our house growing up) and I absolutely loved them. They were called "Bathtubbies" and were created by Tomy. They were sold carded but I remember my folks having big counter display boxes of them.

My favourite character in this line was the kid friendly Creature from the Black Lagoon character, a nice sprinking of science fiction into an otherwise straight forward toy line.

When my little half brother was 2, he wouldn't take a bath w/o these. Once he left them in the car, and my dad's girlfriend had to go to the car and get them b/c he pitched such a fit. Once he calmed down he kept repeating "Mommy Tubby" until she came back w/ them.

Wow, me too. I know I had the dolphin and maybe the frog at some point. The penguin seems familiar too...

"Did you fart or was that a frog in the tub?"
It's not how hard you hit, but how hard you can be hit and still move forward.

Nice stuff! The “Creature from the Black Lagoon character” is a Japanese folk-tale character known as Kappa. Check out this Google image search to see the many Kappa-inspired toys that are out there.
