    A Christmas Story

Not only is it the best Christmas movie that you can watch over and over , it is an incredible ebay seller. Back in 2005 SEARS of all places offered the Dept. 56 Christmas story houses for sale. Since I've collected the poster , autographs and anything else my wife and I picked up all of the pieces and several extras . Last year thye retired several pieces and this year they added 2 more houses and an assor.piece. I sold several of my extras last year for good money to pay for Christmas stuff and held on to a few extras for later sells.
Anyway..That is something I search for on a daily basis and it has jumped to prices unGODly.
The Firetruck that was retired last year just sold for 552.00 on ebay. and it's a small piece. ( not my firetruck) People go ape S*** over things at the wrong time. Wait until after christmas to look for it. It's amazing.
Check out the listings it is incredible.

I purchased a large Dept 56 collection at a garage sale a couple years ago. I knew nothing about them, but for the size of the collection (still in the boxes) for $50, I figured I could not go wrong. It was not the "Christmas Story" line I think it was the Coca~Cola village. All the pieces were retired, and I think I pulled in $700 - $800 for the collection.

I never couldget into all the different series but I love the " A christmas story" ones. They do go pretty high on ebay for all the different lines.

I didn't even realize they existed! Well, now I'll be off to Sears to purchase some pieces. It looks like they have Ralphie's house on Sears.com for about $26 but people are paying $50 for it on Ebay.

I have a bunch of Dept. 56 pieces that I have picked up over the years but only like some of the figs and pieces. I need to do a major purge but haven't had a chance to yet.

I remember I bought a ton of Starbucks cafes years ago when it retired and a seller was getting rid of them at 50% off. I paid about $18 or so a piece and was selling them for $60-$70. I think they are now selling for over $100 now.

SEARS will sell out pretty fast . Last year you would od an order and then it would some back sold out. We just bought the new sets and tried to get two more off the website and they said they where sold out.
They changed the boxes this year so the green boxes are really hard to find. Besides everything else we collect rudolph, frosty and a christmas story. Gotta love hard core collectors

Just out of curiousity what are the two new houses and accessory this year? I think the Uptown Theater is one of them.

I hit Sears today at lunch and I think I was able to get everything....all on sale for 33% off. To my astonishment, there was a Chop Suey Restaurant on the shelf from last year and even better when I took it to the register it rang up as $0 so the cashier told me to just take it because it wasn't in their system any longer....woo hoo!

I was stoked just to see it on the shelf but then for it to ring up at $0 was sweet.

I think I figured out the new pieces now: Uptown Theater, Schultz Optometry, and Ralphie and his Glasses.
