I'm also wonder if Warners has some edict in mind to make the costumes something easier to translate to movies & TV? After all the nonsense about the Wonder woman costume for the TV pilot?

More likely though, some idiot executive that never read any type of book, let alone a comic book, saw Marvel's Ultimate Captain America & Avengers design and thought it was the thing to copy to make DC books sell.

Somethings don't need changing. Like Black Canary's outfit or Zatanna's. Especially Superman's.

Oh, and Lee's Deathstroke costume is more than hideous. I could see dumping the pirate boots, but the weird spiky stuff is goofy.

Funny how DC Online , which was designed by Jim Lee reflects none of these update costume revisions.

            >I believe that DC's goal here is to flood the stands with new titles and overpower Marvel through sheer numbers

I never even thought of that. It’s a possibility, but....

            >A LOT of these books look to me to have marginalized audiences. I...Vampire is aimed a totally different group than All-Star Western or Sgt Rock.

....I suspect that to a certain degree they’re testing the waters; throwing out all kinds of stuff to see what sticks. It’s not a bad idea at all, except that most of these are gonna end up in the comic shops; which means they’re not gonna get into the hands of anybody who might appreciate anything different from the usual fare.

            >they're hoping that they'll entice non-readers to hop onto the digital versions

Maybe.... and again, not a bad idea but they’re still working uphill. DC is still a superhero company to most, so if you’re not already a superhero fan you’ll likely shy away. Plus; if the digital versions aren’t SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than print, you’re not gonna get a lot of takers either.

            >I wonder what DC's contingency plan is if this all blows up in their face?

More of the same with new costumes next year! Crisis of Secret Blackest Identity Final Wars part 3! Stunt writers!

Predictions for the reboot based on my own gut feeling and what I've read so far:

              • Wally West: Never existed
              • Donna Troy: Never existed
              • Garth/Aqualad: Never existed
              • Superman was never married to Lois Lane
              • Original Robin costume wiped out of existence. Replaced by Tim's first suit
              • Green Arrow and Arsenal have no connection
              • Wonder Woman and Wonder Girl (Cassie) have no connection
              • Superboy is brand new and just making the scene
              • Tim Drake was possibly never Robin (or if he was, just briefly)
              • The JSA will not be tied to WWII. More likely to take the Smallville tact of operating about 20-30 years ago.
              • Either the Teen Titans in general, or the New Teen Titans onward have not existed in this continuity, until now.

That's just guess work on my part, but just from the pieces they've shown us, and previous rumblings, that's my take.

Yup, i can see this happening. this is going to always be a problem...especially with DC and Marvel that have on going characters that last for decades.

If you're going to reboot fine but stick to it and stop going back every few years to undo something.

I mean that's an editors job is to make sure that the character is in line with what was started in a reboot......

This is gonna tick off a lot of people, plan and simple. I know DC went through a lot to bring Barry Allen back, but to many people that have been reading for the past quarter century, Wally IS their Flash.

                      • Donna Troy: Never existed
Poor Donna....she's seems to get the shaft whenever anyone utters the words "crisis" or "reboot"

                      • Garth/Aqualad: Never existed
Poor Garth ....Seems like he's gotten the shaft also since the original "COIE" when Tula/Aquagirl died at the hands of Chemo. The Phil Jiminez Tempest mini-series aside, DC hasn't really known what to do with him. But what do you expect considering how poorly his mentor has fared in recent years.

                      • Superman was never married to Lois Lane
DC has been itching to copy Marvel's Spidey solution and follow suit for some time. So it wouldn't surprise me if this came to pass. I'm indifferent on the subject...Although I don't like when they retcon what has been status quo for close to 20 years, I do like the newer approach they took with the Lois and Clark relationship on "Smallville".

                      • Original Robin costume wiped out of existence. Replaced by Tim's first suit
Pure blasphemy IMO if this comes to pass...

                      • Green Arrow and Arsenal have no connection
                      • Wonder Woman and Wonder Girl (Cassie) have no connection

                      • Either the Teen Titans in general, or the New Teen Titans onward have not existed in this continuity, until now.
Yeah Titans sounds like it's gonna be a BIG mess if we're all correctlyn reading between the lines. Stoopid!

                      • The JSA will not be tied to WWII. More likely to take the Smallville tact of operating about 20-30 years ago.
Unfortunately this has been DC's problem with JSA for a LONG time....The World War II thing can only be pushed so far, even in comic books, as we get further away from WWII with each passing year.

What DC SHOULD have done after "Infinite Crisis" when they recreated the "multiverse" was to put the JSA with all of the WWII history on one of the earths. They could have even made it that this earth was behind "our" earth time-wise and the JSA there could still be operating in their prime. It could have opened up a whole new series of stories and cross-overs with the main DCU could happen more frequently than once a year if they so desired. I mean what was the point in bringing back a multiverse if you're not going to use it to it's full potential anyway.

Instead they repopulated the 52niverse with a bunch of one-off Elseworlds stuff that they never planned on revisiting anyway...

But keeping the JSA around does more damage over the long run...How many times can we suspend disbelief, even in a comic book world, that these guys are still young and vital. They received a boost from Ian Karkull back in the day, and then received one again after "Zero Hour". Alan Scott has got even more boosts than the other guys due to the Starheart....

                        Hmmmm....

This September, New York Times bestselling writer Grant Morrison (ALL-STAR SUPERMAN) joins with sensational artist Rags Morales to bring you tales of The Man of Tomorrow unlike any you’ve ever read before in ACTION COMICS #1. This momentous first issue will set in motion the history of the DC Universe as Superman defends a world that doesn’t trust their first Super Hero.
So does this means that the JSA and others didn't exist prior to Superman? And is "Action" going to be set in the past as it traces Supes' new history?

I can't see that happening to the JSA completely. Johns put too much effort into getting them onto Smallville, not to mention his vested interest in Stargirl. I can see them jettisoned onto another Earth (2!), which is actually what they really need & deserve, and not have to deal with the rest of the DCU except in crossovers.
If the JSA goes away completely, I will be P!$$ed!

I'm confused. From the JLA, Teen Titans, & Superman copy, I'd guess that the DCU is rebooting and that everything is all-new. Ditto Green Arrow, Mr. Terrific & Hawkman.
From the Batman, Outsiders, GL, LSH, Deadman, Aquaman, H&D, etc. it looks like they're spinning along as is from the current runs, but just restarting at #1. So already it's unclear where this is going or how. Ridiculous.

As it stands from this list, looks like I'll be getting Birds of Prey as it seems to be following from the old series. Plus the GL books, Swamp Thing, Batgirl, & All-Star Western. Maybe Deadman. Nothing in the other solicits make me want to jump onboard.

It's weird that so many of 'em are basicly the post-original Crisis versions. But I'm feelin' extra-smarmy tonight!:

                              >JUSTICE LEAGUE #1: In a universe where super heroes are strange and new, Batman has discovered a dark evil that requires him to unite the World Greatest Heroes!

It was called "Legends," wasn't it?

                              >JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL #1: With the growing presence of super beings around the world, the United Nations resolves to create a new group called Justice League International.

THAT sounds familiar.... Even the same lineup except for:

                              >August General in Iron

Really? THAT'S your hero name? What; is he from Doucebagria? Bushonenville? Pretentiousberg?

                              >AQUAMAN #1: Aquaman has renounced the throne of Atlantis – but the sea will not release Arthur Curry so easily.

                              ....AGAIN!

                              >WONDER WOMAN #1: The Gods walk among us. To them, our lives are playthings. Only one woman would dare to protect humanity from the wrath of such strange and powerful forces. But is she one of us – or one of them?

....which was the point of the Perez era WW, wasn't it? At least she's not an ad exec or anything.

                              >THE FURY OF FIRESTORM #1: The dark secrets of the murderous Dog Team and its Firestorm Protocol force them to put aside their differences to confront a threat so terrifying that it may lead to a new Cold War!

THIS one is interesting 'cos it implies a reboot of real-world history. Maybe Newt Gingrich will punch reality and Regan will be president again. Or they'll retcon Prez. Have they done that one recently?

                              >GREEN ARROW #1: Green Arrow is on the hunt. Driven by inner demons, Ollie Queen travels the world and brings outlaws to justice…by breaking every law.

Wasn't that his ninja period? When he was dark and gritty?

                              >THE SAVAGE HAWKMAN #1:Witness the start of a new action series from writer Tony S. Daniel and artist Philip Tan that will take Hawkman where no hero has flown before!

Peoria? You gotta feel bad for Hawkman. By all rights he should be one of the awsomest heroes ever, but for some inexplicable reason he never quite gets there.

                              >MISTER TERRIFIC #1: The world’s third-smartest man –

REALLY?!?!? THAT'S his selling point? THIRD smartest? So.... when Batman or Detective Chimp are busy I should call this guy?

                              >– uses his brains and fists against science gone mad

Bet I can guess which he uses most often..... This is a strange character to bring back, but I guess they always bring back a Golden-Age oldie with each reboot.

                              >DC UNIVERSE PRESENTS #1: It’s the start of a new series spotlighting some of the DC Universes’s most exciting super heroes!

Awesome! Claw the Unconquered! The ORIGINAL Outsiders from Showcase! Angel O'Day and Sam Simeon! Rex the Wonder Dog!

                              >First up is Deadman,

                              ....okay.... or Deadman.... I guess.

                              >SUPERBOY #1: the Clone was no more than a set of data to the scientists of Project N.O.W.H.E.R.E. But when the scope of his stunning powers was revealed, he became a deadly weapon! Now the question is: Can a clone develop a conscience?

What did they call this when it was a Powergirl clone?

                              >SUPERGIRL #1: She’s got the unpredictable behavior of a teenager, the same powers as Superman – and none of his affection for the people of Earth. So don’t **** her off!

                              OBOY! Dark, gritty Supergirl! *yawn*

                              >BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT #1: The Dark Knight struggles against a deadly – yet strangely familiar – foe

....which could describe almost all of Batman's foes. "So.... ANOTHER guy who feels the need to leave weird clues behind? I bet he really wants revenge on somebody...."

                              >GREEN LANTERN: NEW GUARDIANS #1: But can he even keep this volatile group together?

This idea comes up a lot too. Is it the 90's again already?

....and I really think they need a few more Green Lantern books.

                              >RED LANTERNS #1: Atrocitus and his Red Lantern Corps return in their own series, battling against injustice in the most bloody ways imaginable!

Wow. I guess it IS the 90's again.

                              >JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK #1: The witch known as The Enchantress has gone mad, unleashing forces that not even the combined powers of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and Cyborg can stop. And if those heroes can’t handle the job, who will stand against this mystical madness? Shade the Changing Man, Madame Xanadu, Deadman, Zatanna and John Constantine may be our only hope –

HAW! Yeah, 'cos if Superman AND Batman can't deal with it, these clowns can. I guess Deadman and Constantine can whine at her until she offs herself. And if that doesn't work, they can call up Sugar and Spike.

                              >RESURRECTION MAN #1: Resurrection Man can’t stay dead for long, though – and with each rebirth comes new and unexpected powers.

                              > forces are gathering to learn what’s so special about him

Other than coming back from the dead? Well; yeah, I guess. It IS a superhero comic. Maybe he'll end up being the reincarnated Brother Power.

It’s fallen to Madame Xanadu and Jason Blood, the man with a monster inside him, to stand in their way – though the demon Etrigan has no interest in protecting anyone or anything other than himself!

Wasn't this the Kirby Demon from the 70's? *sheesh*

                              >and some very surprising heroes – and villains – will have no choice but to join the fray!

                              > VOODOO #1: Who is Voodoo?

She's a stupid Image character from the 90's who's better off forgotten.

                              >he’s about to be branded a serial killer when he begins hunting and exterminating inhuman creatures hidden in human form – creatures only he can see

So.... WILD C.A.T.S. is now a DC book?

                              >DEATHSTROKE #1: Never turn your back on Deathstroke the Terminator. He won’t quit, no matter how high the stakes

'Cos he's the best at what he does! *sigh* Hard to be a badass hitman in a universe where nobody really dies.

Really? No; REALLY? They'll go back to reboot the old west, but not WW2?

                              >ALL-STAR WESTERN #1: Can Amadeus Arkham, a pioneer in criminal psychology, enlist Hex’s special brand of justice to help the Gotham Police Department track down a vicious serial killer?

They – along with a few other tortured teen heroes – will be the Teen Titans in this new series

What I'm hearing is "the 90's were the last time we made any REAL money.... let's just do that again."

                              >STATIC SHOCK #1: The brilliant, slightly awkward high school student Virgil Hawkins transforms into the cocky electromagnetic hero
