Might be heading to the "D" soon, might have a little down time if there is a cool haunt I'd appreciate knowing.

Rack Toys: Cheap, Crazed Playthings book now available!
My studio partner used to live in Detroit, I'll get the name of the comic shop he used to take me to that was packed floor to ceiling with display cases when I see him tomorrow. Their selection was mind-blowing, but the prices weren't that great, and one of the guys who works there suffers from the simpson's comic book guy affliction, although the other guy was really nice. You'll definitely want to go look.
My other favorite place is in Anne arbor, but that's off the track from Detroit proper. That place is more statues and vinyl though, and I know you're about the vintage.

sounds like the first place you mentioned could easily be Warp 9 that's close to royal oak, and the second sounds like Vault of Midnight in Ann Arbor.
I don't even know if I'm going to be able to make it out to motor city this weekend, will be the first time in like 10 years.

Who stole my stuff !!!
There is a flea market building at ecorse and telegraph in taylor mich that is def worth a look see
It beens years since I've been there but Time Travelers always had several Megos in their display cases.
Better late than never.....
Warp 9 in Clawson is great. I buy there from time to time.
I am a transplant from Detroit.
And let me tell you, I spent a lot of time looking at awesome toys at Time Travelers. It s the first time I ever saw a Mego outside of my childhood. And so many figures I'd never actually seen.
However, I would only ever go there to look around. Put headphones in and peruse the shelves.
I purchased some things, but on two occaossions was cheated by the unscrupulous owner. When I was a kid I put a 12" Star Wars Boba Fett on Layaway. And when I cam back to buy it, they had swapped it with a damaged one. It didn't even match their own written description. I actually overheard one of the employees telling a friend he had just traded his 12" Boba Fett in because it was damaged.
Anyway, sorry about the rant, but I HATED that experience. And it took me years to get comfortable enough to buy from anywhere but retail.
Anyway, enjoy your visit. It is an amazingly friendly city with lots of great small breweries and restaurants.
I can almost guarantee the same Mego figures are still on the shelves that I saw when I lived and browsed there 20 years ago.
High prices, cluttered shelves, and very poor customer service, as noted by others.

Time travelers is the place I was thinking of. Showcases full of vintage megos, captain action, shogun warriors, micronauts and every thing else you can think of. This is the one place you want to go look, but also likely to experience condescension if you make the mistake at inquiring about anything.
