need help ID'ing japanese figures (long shot)

i realize posting photos would help but I'm lazy.

I resently picked up two japanese soft plastic "soakys" or something.
They belong to same series, and I know Ive seen them before, but just cant place them. I'm guessing theyre vintage (60's or 70's), i really doubt they are modern.

one is a boy and one is an older man. asakusa toy on their feet. The boy wears a beanie type hat, v neck sweater and dress shirt. has freckles.
older man wears a hat, bow tie, jacket and has big sideburns or longer hair in front of his ears.

I imagine that whatever cartoon they are from is on the homourous side.

the older guy looks more familiar than younger guy.

Not much to go on, I tried google but no luck. Chris? Anyone?

Forgot to add something. I called them "soakys" as they have their mouths in an "o" shape and have weird knobs/buttons on heads that seem do something, make them squirt water? i guess.

Sorry Andy, those descriptions don't ring a bell for me. If you are able to post a pic, I could run it by my wife, she might recognize the characters (especially if they are from the 70's)

K, i'll post a pic this weekend. For some reason I also think they could be french? great description huh? I really narrowed it down lol.

Hmm that is a tough one. I initially thought Doraemom....then Anpanman but no beanie hat in either of those. I swear I can see the beanie wearing guy...just beyond the tip of my brain! Gotta see those pics.

Doraemon is a robot cat with no ears, and Anpanman has a head made out of bread, so I think the above descriptions rule them out. Man, my son used to watch Anpanman all the time, he loved that show.
