Anyone else getting the Aurora Trex reissue?

Just realized that I didn't see any talk of this cool piece of history here.
The giant tyrannosaurus rex model that Aurora made in the 70's.

Well, it's going to be back on the store shelves again.
Atlantis model company is reissuing it.
In red plastic, with the glow parts no less.

Thought there might be a few people here that might be interested in this item.

I got shipping confirmation on my preorder for 3 of them a couple days ago, so should be here pretty soon.

If it was cheaper, I'd pick it up for a Devil Dinosaur custom, not for 80 bucks, tho.

        Hmmmm....

It's tempting. I've got one of the old Revel reissues built up, but I wouldn't mind doing another in the Aurora colours. $80 isn't too bad a price, but I'm currently poor.

That was the first thing that popped into my head too. But sheesh...the price!

Personally I do not like the new re-issue color. If am not mistaken the 1980's issue of this was also in the 40-60$ range

Yeah. The price is kind of hefty.
Probably because the limited production run.
Only 1500 to spread the costs over. But I guess that is all Atlantis expects to be able to sell.
Probably why Revell didn't reisue it when it did the others in 2007.

Not sure of the actual prices of the older reissues when they were released.
I do know the original was $8 in 1974

Considering the price increase in petroleum products in the past 37 years.
I can see 10X the price
Especially the size of this thing.

I LOVE that T-REX!! I've owned him as a Kid more then once. I'm kinda bummed about the $80.00 price Tag though, but I might have to bite the Bullet...I want him REAL BAD!

One thing I've always loved about that T-Rex, is that he looks like Gawangi.

Yup. You can still find them for around $60. Sometimes. Postage is a nightmare, especially since the last round of reissues (in the 90's) was released only in Germany.

Actually Revell (USA) also issued the kit in the 90's.
Up until the announcement of this reissue from Atlantis, prices for any boxed reissue were running over $100 on ebay.
After this one was announced, the priced came down to the $60 price range. Usually with $15-20 shipping on top of that though.

I got these 3 for just over $200 shipped.

I got mine a couple years ago, and had the guy ship it without the box to save postage. Postage is a kiiller on these.

Are those originals? If so, that's a good deal; moreso if they got that weird paper backdrop.

No, those are the new reissues from Atlantis (which doesn't have the backdrop)

I'd be happy to get one boxed original for $200.
Complete originals without he box go right around $150. If it has the box and all the other stuff, usually $250 and up.
Which is why it is 1 of only 2 boxes I am missing from the Aurora issues.
