I started on a Space 1999 playset over two years ago but never finished it. I recently won a Commander Koenig figure on ebay and it renewed my interest in finishing the playset. It’s built to fit in Scott’s Dida sets, but unfortunately, he’s sold out of them. I could kick myself for not ordering them earlier. I ended up building my own setup with matboard, but I’m really hoping Scott gets more displaysets in because I want to set this set up in one (hint, hint).
The set has a pull-up screen on the inside and a rising Eagle ship on the outside. The chairs are made out of white matboard. The computer desk is from a Mego Enterprise playset, but I plan on making my own to be more screen accurate. The figures are a mix of Palitoy, CTVT and custom figures. I also made a moveable communications post.
I made the design of the outside of the set using a 3D program and then reworked it in PhotoShop. The outside features a landing pad. I have a Dinky Eagle on it, but a Mattel Eagle would look great on it.
One thing I was pleased about after I built this was that fact that it folds up to about the size of a thin book. I don’t have a ton of display space, so that was a bonus.
