    Pedro's South of the Border

Traveling from Pennsylvania and Maryland to Florida in the Sixties and early 70's was an adventure.

Mom and Dad cursed the day I learned to read because I read out loud every South of the Border Billboard I saw!

Does anyone remember Pedro's South of the Border Souvenier stop on I-95 at the South Carolina/North Carolina border?

That burrito (pardon the pun) on the billboard looks like it had one too many servings of beans...

Stopped there two years ago on the way down to Myrtle Beach. It never seems to change to be honest, but it was never that much to begin with.

Used to stop there every year going from NJ to Fl visiting my aunt and uncle.

Most memorable places along the way were South of the Border and Stuckey's

Last time I was there was like 10 years ago and they had gambling (believe it or not)

those signs are still there......I actually use them as a sort of countdown and something to do when driving from NY to florida.....althought my wife is usally driving by that point....straight through drive....best time yet 20 hours for 1200 miles.....we usually hit there around 3-4 am and that is when I need to rest a while. can't sleep in the car so I just rest the eyes

The place still exists and is open, even though no one is ever there. Just visited a little over a year ago. It was horrifying in that weird awesome way those places are.
