Please extend a warm welcome to the ghost of Boston Brand... Deadman. This former circus trapeze artist who was murdered by the mysterious Hook now lives out his undead days possessing the bodies of the living in order to find the one who ended his life premature. Occasionally Brand can also be seen assisting crime fighters and heroes within the DC Universe including Batman, the Spectre and several others.
Deadman has held a special place in my heart ever since reading about him in the pages of the Batman mini series Gotham County Line and I knew after reading that story that I wanted to do a custom of him one day. I feel confident in capturing the hybrid look of Deadman in this story which to me is more or less a mix of Neal Adams' naturalistic style and Kelly Jones' more tormented zombie appearance but I wanted to add a bit of All Hallows Eve flavor so I set up some candles and a creepy old clothe back drop and took about 30 pictures in near dark with my old digital camera. These few are the only ones that turned out halfway presentable so here they are:
Deadman's Body: Legs are Type 2 with boot feet, my pelvis, resin Remco wrestler torso, resin LJN biceps, Type 2 forearms, my hands, head is a Black Bolt from Russ with the tuning fork removed and paint by me. Costume also by me. "D" emblem on chest is paper from an index card and the belt is red leather.
Overall this was a very fun project and I had a blast painting the head to look kind of zombiefied and I hope you all enjoy him as much as me.
