Excited why? It looks like the rerelease has nothing that the old release didn't have.

I'm excited because I missed out on the old DVD and now I don't have to pay through the teeth to have a decent copy.

Me too. I kept meaning to buy the DVD many times but I never did. I'll pick it up now though.

It's a fun movie but I personally cannot say the Queen soundtrack is the highpoint for me.

I have the original DVD, so will probably pass on this version.

I passed on the first DVD version for no other reason than being lazy and not wanting to stand in the Walmart line..........

This time, I wont make the same mistake.

Here are the features (the original had none)
Bonus Features Blast Off to excitement

                  * The Special Edition DVD includes special bonus features that will take your enjoyment into another galaxy:
                  * ALEX ROSS, RENOWNED COMIC ARTIST, ON FLASH GORDON - World-renowned comic artist Alex Ross talks about his favorite movie of all time, Flash Gordon, and about how the film has inspired him in his life and work.
                  * WRITING A CLASSIC: SCREENWRITER LORENZO SEMPLE, JR. -*Screenwriter Lorenzo Semple, Jr.*speaks*about the deliberately campy script for Flash Gordon.
                  * FLASH GORDON 1936 SERIAL EPISODE*- Chapter One*of Planet of Peril.

I'm excited because I dumped my used DVD for $44 on ebay and can pick up a better DVD for $20. The original DVD was a bit grainy as well.

Can anyone tell me, did the music Queen did for the Hawkmen attacking the Mongo Rocket come before or after the videogame Vanguard? It's the same music/tune.

Lorenzo Semple Jr is still alive, eh? He should be boiled in oil that bastiche! He is the great defiler of comic books and beloved sf/fantasy icons everywhere!
