Storage Wars on A&E has MEGOs

Ok, I was watching tonight's episode of Storage Wars on A&E. There are a lot of these types of shows out right now, and I love them all. Well, tonight, one of the regulars bought an indoor storage unit for $1700. Looked like it was way over-priced. Well, to cut thru the chase, he found several boxes of vintage toys such as Star Wars, Sectaurs, Wiz of Oz, CotT, and Megos. But, it was the MEGOs that he found. The ones I remember, all on card, were Green Arrow, Human Torch, Thor, Lizard, Spiderman. I saw a carded FF Riddler. Also, was a boxed diamond circle Spiderman...or at least that is what the guy at the comic store they took it too said. Man, why can't I find something like this?

dayumm! diamond spidey, carded Liz, etc in a lost storage shed. That is just plain weird. One would think a collector type person would have some sense of value for their stuffs and not just leave it to lose in a bad payment situation. It's not like that sort of thing just sneaks up on you. There is usually a good downward spiral time where this stuff should have hit auction if'n the owner was unable to pay bills. crazy

I've never been to a storage auction, but, my wife has. The way it works on the show (which is the same way it was when my wife went to some when we lived in Austin) was they open the door to the storage unit. You can only look. You cannot enter the unit. You cannot touch anything. You cannot open any boxes. All you can do is look. Use a flashlight if you need. But, what the experts do is make good judgments on what they see, the packaging they see, etc. Really interesting, but, a big gamble obviously. But, this episode, this guy hit a home run.

Wow that is insane. I have heard of auctioning off units that have gone unpaid for a long time but usually they filled with grand parents stuff after they passed on, never heard of finding toy collections. Very cool. ESPECIALLY THE MEGO FIND. I have tons of toys in storage and I always worry about it. I always pay the bill and check my stuff often. One day it'll be a bigger house with a toy room .....but until then I have to go this route.

I wonder who the owner was, HAS to have been to the forums here at one time or another...

Looks like they were in some nice Lucite cases.....done in recent years im sure....

mostly likely thse will turn up on Ebay i would guess.....

Pretty sad seeing your collection sold off like that...

Wow I wonder how much a boxed Diamond Circle suit Spidey would go for.

Yeah, it's completely staged. One of the storage shows even says as much in the beginning. Something to the effect of, 'over the years these people claim to have made some great discoveries, and these are re-enactments of some of those discoveries'.

Sometimes the lame "acting" that the regulars do when they're supposedly fighting over the storage units is downright hilarious.

Spike TV has a similar show as well. Won't be long and this will join the thousands of pawn shows, auction shows and picker shows.

it's probably as rigged as any "reality" show but it's produced by Thom Beers (who created deadliest catch) so while he may edit for drama he isn't know for fabricating stuff. I have seen a couple times when the buyers lost on a lot but obviously it's more dramtic to see home runs
