Thread: batman beyond costume

    batman beyond costume

anyone ever see the dc direct 1/6th scale BB?
I don't like the head sculpt, but the costume is amazing! it looks like a skin tight leather or scuba suit.
I'd like to make a mego sized custom.
how could I get that same look?
    plastidip the body?

yu'll have to grease/seal the joints, the other ways is cast the body and dip the dummy cast or suit cover cast.
maybe a thin vinyl suit slightly small, talc the body and inside the costume warm the outside up with a hairdryer or heat gun, and quickly put it on the body.

Honestly? Probably easiest to buy the DC Direct figure, take the suit off and resew it down to size. Should be enough material there to do it. Might end up with a couple extra seams, but should replicate well I'd think.

I haven't seen the figure but there is a black wetlook lycra that looks cool. I used it on a Batwoman figure.

that does look cool! was it a lot of sewing? I'm no seamstress
did you buy it online? expensive?
(btw, googling "black wetlook lycra" was very enjoyable )

    thin vinyl suit? hmmmm....how?where?

if I plastidip, how would I cover/seal the joints?
this would be a display figure, so flexibility is not an issue.

buying the 1/6th is an option, but realistically, too much work for me. not to mention expensive!
    here's the figure:

doesn't look even a little like the mask, but that suit!!

also, I know I've seen BB head sculpts online, but I forget where.

What i did for my Sea Devil custom was use a Doc M/CTVT body suit and every time i made a mould i smeared the suit with the excess mould material giving it a rubbery look. Kind of like the plastidip idea.
The only down side to this method is that posability is reduced.

For my figure it's not too much of a problem but depending on what you intend to do with yours it might not work well.

Another option is to cut up balloons and glue them to a body suit. You'd have the rubbery look and flexibility would still be there.
I was going to try that method on a Keaton Batman custom.

I couldn't find pics of your sea devil but I'm trying to avoid a bulky look. I'd like to keep it as sleek as possible as BB is really just a teenager.
I wonder if balloons would work directly on the body?

You couldn't find it because it's not quite finished .
I just need to paint the body and touch up the head.

It's not that bulky, i only used a thin layer to coat the body suit.
I was trying to emulate Starbuks silicone suits but by using left over mould rubber.

    Here are some progress pic's:
