I apologize Paul. Didn't mean to steal the thunder. If its any consolation, you got to Amok Time before me. And also I don't have kids to tend to when I get home so I had a leg up on ya.

You have a captive audience Ron. Are the lady fingers really pliable like the male? They look a little sausagey to me. If just the hands were swapped, I could probably live with Cheetah, although she wouldn't have the distinctive Mego hips. I'll be interested to see how she looks without boots. I bet she looks better, ala Manta.

WW looks like a shrunk down version of the Barbie from a few years ago.

I'm like EF Hutton, but you knew that already Steve.

The fingers can be moved, rubbery type of plastic. I don't know what good that will do as they won't really stay in a pose to hold anything. I'll post Cheetah without boots for the group shot.

I have to change my statement about the male bodies as there has been a change. There is now a plastic connector between the upper and lower torso. The body can still twist from side to side but no longer bends forward and back at the waist. I think this will be a fix to the bent over problem. So changes have been made. The legs are still strung to each other thorugh the pelvis with elastic and are still pretty floppy. I'll try to take a pic.

Something else to keep checking TRU for. Can't wait to see them for real.
            It's all good!

The new female body is definetly more pornish. Can the chest be clipped onto a female mego body? ala mego boobjob?

I like the Mattel female body a lot better then the Mego one. I'm looking forward to getting this whole wave. I like every character in it.

Me too! Never cared much for the Mego female bodies. The larger bust size is not overdone here IMO. The Megos were too small. What I am concerned about are the hands though and the waist on the Mattel figure. I don't know why they didn't do the same waist articulation as the males.

Gonna wrap up for tonight as I'm getting dirty looks for boiling toys at midnight. Here's the group shot of the swaps. I just boiled and popped and then swapped Flash and Cold as is onto Mego bodies. This is not how I'm going to leave them as I'm going to be changing/eliminating some things on both. But its late so will have to do for now.

Couple things on Flash and Cold. Flash's suit does not appear to be as light as Supes shorts. Still not bright red though. Looks better in the pic I think than it is. There is a pretty good contrast between his head and hands to the suit. I really am not sure what I think about the head yet, I'm not sure I like it. I think part of me just really wants a rotocast Flash head. I'll have to ponder for a little while longer. I'm probably gonna let the boots go even with the wings on them. I think I'm going with Mego boots.

Cold's suit is a very familiar material, like Planet of the Apes Astronauts jumpsuit (and several AJ suits). The pleather is still pleather but its a much thinner pleather. I'd like it to not be pleather at all but its a step in the right direction. The accessories are cool. The holster can be unhooked from the belt. It looks like the holster is reworked from Mego Flash Gordon. The belt actually looks like it was based off of the Mego Andorian belt. This head I really don't care for. The face just seems too small to me. I'm probably gonna use another head.

Thats all for now. Closeups of Flash and Cold and a group shot of the initial body swaps.

The legs look "handicapped" on the new Mattel bodies.

                        Nice. A hidden articulation...

Just like in the male bodies... Bowed legs... Mattel insists in doing this... When is their body designer getting fired?

                        Great! Easier to customize...

I think it is a POSITIVE in the net, and definitely better than the Mego female bodies...

Hey Stabilio, thanks for the effort and time in sharing pictures and details with us. Great review!

Great shots! And great work too! Wave 3 is easily the best in the lot to date. Well done Paul and EMCE. And a big 'THANK YOU' to Mattel for not waiting around on the fix for the bodies. I also think the Mattel female body is excellent. An improvement over the Mego version in my opinion. And yes, I know the above shot has the Mego body swap. I like the head sculpts and outfits on all of them. Very Mego-like as I would have envisioned them.

Hows this for a WW custom bustier and shoulder length hair (with Photoshop)? Gold emblem placed higher on chest.....

I love what you did with Wonder Woman's gold chest plate. It should have looked like that in the first place. I love the Retro line really I do but whichever one of you guys designed Wonder Woman's outfit you messed up...it never should have been so low. The way this guy did it in photoshop is the way it should have been done. If I hurt someone's feelings,I'm sorry. However people need to accept and admit to the flaws they have done in their work. If I do something silly at my job it is quickly pointed out to me and I live with it and try to do better next time. Wonder Woman's biggest (and in my opinion only major flaw) is that chest plate being way too low. How did you guys allow that design to go through is beyond me.

Nailed the references. As this was the first time we were going to this kind of length on the accessories, we delved deep into Paul's collection and tried to figure what Mego would have done in this instance. We also wanted to make sure that the holster was removable...just cuz we thought it would be cool to do so. I admit that I never really cared for this character until I started working on the gun and the rest.

Sorry you don't like Flash's boots, considering I only spent a week of my life working on them to get them right :-) And no comments on Captain Cold's boots or the gun? I'm not lucky enough to have the time to do head sculpts, but I'm pretty much the Designated Accessory Sculptor at the shop.

And Brian Leitner really deserves a hand for the work on the costume. In case no-one realized he was our suit guy on this one...one of the best things I've seen him do, totally marrying a Mego approach to a new character. We love Brian.
