    Face as the Flash

Moviehole mentioned that Bradley Cooper is a possibility for playing Barry Allen's Flash.

I think he's a pretty good choice. It'll never happen but I could see Reynolds as GL and Cooper as Flash in a road movie. They could be the Hope and Crosby of the super-hero set.

I'd prefer Wally West, but I'll be happy as can be with a Flash movie no matter what. Bradley Cooper is a good choice.

Hmm, I dunno...cooper just doesnt have the "Nebbish Factor" that Barry Allen should have. Needs to be a bit more of a nerd in other words....the kind of guy who can get away with wearing a green plaid sport coat and an orange bow tie! Maybe the guy who plays Sheldon on Big Bang??

I never saw Barry Allen as a nerd. Everyone wore green plaid sports coats and orange bow ties in 60s — particularly in comics with the limited color tablet used. Barry was more of a square than a nerd. He was never portrayed as a milquetoast like Clark Kent.

While I never thought of Allen as a nerd, Cooper did play one fairly well on Alias.

I always thought these two should be reversed. Cooper would make a better Hal and Reynolds a better Barry.

If a film does indeed happen and Cooper is cast, I doubt highly they will go by comic characterizations.

Sure, it'll be Barry, but they will upgrade the fun factor and have him with some Wally attributes and wisecracks. They'll definitely go with an amalgam of Flashes to arrive at one central figure. As written, Barry is a stiff with little to build a movie upon. Just look to Rebirth for a taste of that. I really, really like this casting idea.

I've always said that when you're trying to please everyone, from every generation of comics, it's imperative that these Super Hero movies create a characater who embodies all the different versions of said character that appeared over the decades. Otherwise one generation will hate the films while another will love them. Of course this is a common complaint about these movies but I can totally see why they do that. So it's no surprise that The Flash will be handled this way apparently...much like the T.V. show did in the early 90's, combining the Allen and West Flash characters into one character. Using the Spidey films as an example; I wasn't thrilled that Peter Parker's webs came from his body and not a web-shooter in Raimi's Spider-Man flicks; but I am aware they are trying to appease all generations of comic fans...not just the ones from my era. The box office receipts for these movies obviously suggests that the formula works.

Now as far as all this rebooting stuff, I am sick of it. Even if they get new actors in the roles they should continue with the same continuity ala the James Bond films that had several play the same character over the years. This doesn't mean the new films need to be a sequel to the previous per se, but a simple mention somewhere in the film, whether a newspaper clipping or something, referring to events in the past films would make them much better by loosely connecting all the films but not affecting the quality of the new film at all as it would be one tiny part of the film exclusively for continuity purposes. Like a newspaper clipping with a pic of Spidey VS Doc Ock...or something like that that would be an insignificant scene in the film...but enough for continuity sticklers like me to be happy!
